Rick Gosselin's FINAL (3d) mock draft (1 Viewer)

Fascinating to see how many DBs he has going in the 1st round. A lot more than most have mocked, that's for sure. The two picks that jump out at me are D. Thomas to Miami...that just seems like an impossibility given the fact they just traded for Marshall and dealt Ginn. Parcells is a big fan of college productivity and game tape, and Thomas really didn't have an opportunity to show a lot in college due to the system. I can't see Parcells drafting a wideout that high on potential. The other was Bulaga falling to 17. I know he's projected as an OK LT and a dominant RT, but I still can't see a "sure thing" like Bulaga dropping that far. I honestly think a number of teams would be scrambling to move up to get him if he fell into the teens.
Same short arms and school as Robert Gallery. And Gallery was a much better prospect. I think anyone who gets him late in the 1st would be excited, but I can definitely see teams getting scared off.

23. GREEN BAY PACKERSJerry Hughes, Outside linebacker, TCU
I'd love this pick. It's also the same pick that Bob McGinn and Pete Dougherty have the Packers taking in their mocks.
I agree. Love this idea. Hughes gives them just a little more from the edge than Brad Jones. I like Jones too, but he seems better suited to cover and play the run. Hughes can add the rush to that and develop better cover skills. And while I like to predict Ted Thompson picks, no one ever really knows.

7. CLEVELAND BROWNS

Derrick Morgan, Outside linebacker, Georgia Tech
This would upset me.Think Pioli is going to try to bluff the Browns to give up one of their 3rd rounders to move up to #5 to get Berry.
i was wondering when someone was going to point that out. i think as a Browns fan, i'd be upset too. and shocked. first time i've seen a LBer mocked to CLE in that spot.hey, maybe Pioli will give the Browns some sweet ### deal like the Brows gave the Jets last year.

The Miami & Houston picks are real head scratchers to me.

Miami just traded away a WR they reached on early in the draft a few years ago that was a major bust, traded 2 2nd rounders plus a huge contract for Marshall, and Parcells, of all people, reaches on another one?

Houston who needs a big back, between the tackles runner and passed on Reggie Bush years ago will draft a lessor version of him who is not at all a complement to Slaton?

Spiller is all finesse and no grit. I don't see that fitting the Bill Parcells mold, nor do I think the Dolphins can afford to use a top 15 pick on a RB.
Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber and tight end Martellus Bennett are on the trading block in this week's 2010 NFL draft. The Cowboys have the 27th pick in what many experts say is a deep, talented draft. As hard as it is to admit, the value of Barber may not be much for teams, but that doesn't mean there aren't teams that could use him immediately. The Miami Dolphins are one of them.

The dolphins have been rumored to be trying to trade down. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins trade down with either the Cowboys or Eagles come draft day.
 Did I miss the memo that Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams are no longer on the Dolphins' roster?

12. MIAMI DOLPHINS

Demaryius Thomas, Wide receiver, Georgia Tech
All respect to RG, but this is not happening.MIA will move down, I suspect. Watch out for a deal with the Cowboys. Something like #27 + TE Martellus Bennett + Saturday selection in exchange for the #12, overall. Cowboys take S Earl Thomas. Dolphins need an athletic pass-catching TE and have a lot of options at 27 that fill needs, and Parcells has proven he likes his guys (drafted Bennett in the 2nd Rd even when they already had Witten).

aren't Ricky and Ronnie 32 and 29? ya, it's time to start looking at future starters.

Wont Barber be 27 when the season starts?

And a sluggish 27 at that.

There's a flat spot on this board from Nos. 29-32 where first-round talent runs out, and teams will be drafting what they consider second-round players. Look for the Jets to try to trade out. Failing there, give them Robinson.
This strikes me as weird. Most people have said the opposite all along, that 1st round-worthy players will be available in the 2nd.
I heard an interview with him that said that while people think this is a deep draft it isn't. He said he expects 2 QB's, 2 RB's, 2 WR's and 1 TE in the first round which is pretty low for the marquee skill position players. He said the 2nd-4th round were packed with 2nd round value but the 1st round is not all that thick....

I cant believe Hou takes a RB in round 1. Too many holes
The biggest of which is RB. Slaton's health and performance are unknowns. Moats is Ryan Moats. Foster played well for 1.5 games. The 30th ranked running in the league was not just an interior OL issue.

The Pats already have Merriweather, Chung and Sanders; safety is not a position of need and not a great value for a team that needs so much. I don't know why they would pass on Bryant if he was there at 22. Bryant might even push Moss's buttons and get him to play more consistently.
If the Pats view Thomas as head and shoulders talent-wise above what else is there at #22 I'm all for the pick. Call me very unimpressed with Sanders and of what I've seen of Chung. Merriweather even with his PB spot last year is far from an elite DB IMO. If the Pats think Thomas is a stud, fits their system and is available (which I highly doubt) I'd be ecstatic about the pick. The luxury of having 3 second rounders (not to mention 2- 1sts next year) is you are'nt pigeon-holed into any specific need. I still think safety is an area of concern along with the glaring needs of a pass rusher and wr. Thomas would be a great start to the draft IMO.

Other than flip flopping the #4 and #6 offensive tackles, he's nailed the first six.

I'd seen a lot of other guesses for #4 - #6 from others. He's done well so far.

This has not been a good day for Gosselin.
He missed liked 3 or 4 first rounder piayers out 32(did you really expect him to get players and teams both), what do you want from him?
