Ricky back with Phins in 2008 (1 Viewer)

I love me some Ricky. Hope he heals up and is able to contribute. I could definately see him being a "Parcells Guy" fwiw.

In terms of depth chart, way too early to say. If Brown recovers, then he is the guy there - really showed us something this year. But he needs to get back healthy and stay that way. Ricky at this stage is no more than a change of pace start starter unless he has something in the tank that none of us could imagine would be there.

I make of it that Tuna is smart enough to know that if Ricky's head is on straight, that is a steal of a deal.
So assuming both backs are healthy next year do you think that Brown and Williams are a RBBC?
Look at how he used JJ and MBIII.
Good point, but he's not calling the plays (coach) or setting the roster (GM). I agree it's a steal of deal for the Phins, assuming he's healthy and no more weed.

Ronnie Brown has already started running.

Ricky at 730K is a bargain whether they decide to trade him or use him in a RBBC with Ronnie Brown.

Why? Do you think Ronnie and Ricky are similar to JJ and MBIII? If Parcells took over in SD would you say, "Look at how he used JJ and MBIII," in regards to LT and Turner?IF Ronnie is healthy, this isn't a full blown RBBC.

Parcells may be covering all the bases and getting anyone of value on board. He or the GM could trade him later.

The Dolphins have tried to feature Ronnie the past 2 years and both years he's suffered a pretty big injury. With him coming back from a torn ACL, it's RBBC all the way.

Everybody conveniently forgets that Ricky didnt even look that great in the CFL, time to move on.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Totally different league.

People keep repeating that crap about the CFL. He broke his arm but still averaged about 4.8 YPC. That's pretty good imo.CFL2006: Week 1, started at RB in first regular season CFL game (17/06/06) and generated 121 all-purpose yards (97 rushing)…Week 2, started at RB vs Winnipeg…Week 3, started at RB in B.C. and led all players with 97 yards rushing (LG 31) and recorded his first CFL touchdown (30/06/06)…Week 4, started at RB vs Winnipeg…Week 5, started at RB but left game in second quarter after fracturing his left forearm…Week 6, did not play vs. B.C. due to injury…Week 7, did not play due to injury…Week 8, did not dress due to injury…Week 9, did not dress due to injury.

The CFL also plays 3 downs instead of 4 which leads to more passing.I really don't see why people keep comparing the 2 leagues either.

People just like bashing him even though he and RB did pretty well together. Brown has never finished a season healthy.

OK, same league NFL 2007, he lasted what, 5 plays? Stellar

Who knows if he has anything left or not, but Ricky was twice the RB Ronnie Brown will ever be. If his head had been on straight, he could have been an all-time great. This is the kind of move that, if it works, makes Parcells look like a friggin genius, and if it fails, no one will ever remember. It's a win-win.

Did you see the play? It was a pretty fluke injury.

Yeah it's Ricky's fault for getting stomped on with cleats tearing a chest muscle. He also never had time to get in shape. What a classy statement. If you bashers want to bash at least do so with real data.

Ricky looks to me like he's a cheap insurance policy. Either he or Chatman is gone next year, and it may be both.

Let's recap.

Last played a full season in 2003. What season is this coming up? Oh yeah, 2008. OK...

Flaked out and quit on his team on the eve of 2004 training camp, after it was too late to do anything about it in the draft.

Was suspended the first 4 games of 2005 because pot was more important to him than football.

Flaked again and was suspended for the 2006 season.

Went to Canada and got injured.

Wasn't reinstated for 2007 until nearly the end.

Managed 15 yards on 6 carries before being injured again.

So, he's missed 3 of the last 4 seasons and 1/4 of the other one and has been injured twice during that time.

He's now 31 and no one really knows if he can do it any more. He probably stands a better chance of being injured or suspended again than being productive.

Yet there are still people who want him on their fantasy rosters. Oh brother.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a whole bunch of times...

This is smart for a very important reason: he is clearing this up as early as possible. No speculation late into March, April, June or whatever. No big news stories. Parcells told Ricky to go get his shine box and be ready for the 2008 season. I think Ricky will be motivated to play for a team that actually might be trying to win games now and not just hand him the ball 543,000 times per game.

Good point.
