Rockies manage to find a more expensive and worse pitcher than Vizcain (1 Viewer)

Update: The Rockies and Cubs have now agreed in principle on a trade that would sent Marquis to Colorado in exchange for Luis Vizcaino, the Denver Post reports. The deal won’t become official until next week when the players take physicals.

Recommendation: Assuming the deal goes through, Marquis would slot in as a fourth or fifth starter for the Rockies. Marquis has just one year left on his current contract; the Cubs are expected to pay him around $1 million this season while the Rockies foot the bill for the other $5 million.

Knock all non-Cub NL Central hitters down a peg and all non-Colorado NL West hitters up one.

I know the Rockies made the WS in 07 but they have the worst eye for pitching in the majors IMO.

What's with them bringing in 5 ERA guys over and over and over and over in that ballpark. Guys like Marquis who don't throw hard.

As far back as I can remember they try to rely on Marquis-esque guys in their rotation with no success.

2000: Pedro Astacio - almost an ERA of 6

Rolando Arrojo - 6.04

Masato Yoshi - 5.84

2001: Mike Hampton

Denny Neagle (4.8 ERA the year before they acquired)

Shawn Chacon

2003: Scott Elarton

Dennis Stark

2004: Shawn Estes

2005: Jamey Wright

BK Kim

Just once I'd like to make a play for an actual ace that has at least a chance in Colorado. Marquis is just another scrub in a long line of scrubs that they've acquired or depending on
