Rod Smith Out 4 Months With Hip Surgery (1 Viewer)

I hope Rod's upping his calcium supplements... osteoperosis is a #####.

I kid, I kid.

Seriously though, he needs to up his calcium intake...

I hear there's a new member of the Brandon Marhsall Fan Club: Dre Bly.

Hold on... scratch that... Shawn Springs?

5. ?? < -------------------- Hixon
:banned: Hixon is an interesting WR prospect because played some solid D in college and had a dominant senior year when he finally got to concentrate on being a WR. Sound like (EEE) anyone (EEEE) else (EEE) you know? While Hixon doesn't have Marshall's size, he's got breakaway speed, and will be an instant boost to the Denver return game, assuming he's healthy.

I understand how Dr. Frankenstein felt about his monster now. I hope that some day I can be known for more than shrieking, but if shrieking is my in to the big time, then shrieking it will be.

Surgery for Smith

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Hip surgery will keep Rod Smith out for the vast majority of the Broncos' upcoming offseason program.

Smith underwent an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left hip on Feb. 26. Dr. Marc Philippon at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic performed the operation, which entails a four-month recovery time.

In a debridement procedure, dead or damaged tissue is removed from the affected area, allowing for the living tissue to heal more quickly. (Click here for more information on debridement.)

The team is scheduled to conduct its mini-camp in July, as it has in each of the previous two years. The three-day series of practices falls outside the four-month window from the date of the procedure.

Smith hasn't missed a regular-season game because of injury in over five years, when a sprained left ankle kept him out for a Dec. 2, 2001 game at Miami. He was inactive for a season-ending 2003 game at Green Bay, but that game came after the Broncos' playoff place was clinched, leading the team to rest Smith and several other key contributors for that contest.

is it just me or are the Broncos becoming less relevant each day. The Bly fiasco, Plummer retiring, the ridiculous money given to mediocre Henry, etc.

Tough time to be a Donkey fan.

I think DEN will be much better this year than last, and they JUST missed the playoffs last year.- Henry is better than Bell.- Bly(or Springs) is better than Darrent Williams last season... sorry for making a dig at the deceased but Williams was a very, VERY big reason DEN missed the playoffs last season.- Cutler looks like he'll be at least as good as Plummer and that's not a rip on Plummer I actually like him too.- They lost Smith for 4 months? Ummm MAR, APR, MAY, JUN so he'll be back in early July???? I don't see the problem there. Not much left for him to work on in that offense anyway. It was likely his role was going to be much diminished this season anyway considering how Marshall came on down the stretch in part time duty.- Their DL still needs lots of work but from what I've read this draft is strong @DL.I hate the broncos but expect them to be better than last year and to make the playoffs. I think the Chargers have more worries about their offense staying elite with the new coaching staff than any worries DEN has. I'm a little surprised SD is +600 to win the SuperBowl while DEN is +1500. It should be a LOT closer than that this year.
