Roddy White 2007 vs Chad Johnson 2002 (1 Viewer)

I'm sure that we are all looking for the next big receiver who can be might be available somewhat cheaply.

I picked up White about 10 weeks ago and have been shocked with how good his production has been, the production reminds me a lot of a young Chad Johnson, who also played on a pretty bad team.

CJ's numbers in his second year

69/1166/5 16.9ypc (16 games played)

5 games over 100 yards

Roddy Whites numbers in his third year

78/1140/5 14.6ypc (15 games played)

5 games over 100 yards

I always figured that if they got a real QB in ATL, or at least someone to throw the ball instead of a RB running aroung back there that they might get some decent WR play. Now imagine if the QBs were decent and not harrignton or redmon!

I like White's prospects going forward if ATL gets a more solid QB.

Aside from that total disaster that the entire team put up vs TB, Redman has looked pretty damn good... a lot better than Joey and Byron (not that this is saying much). It would be interesting if they would consider having Redman head into 08 as the starter if they draft a young QB in the first or second round of the draft...

That may be their best bet. Draft a rook and let him learn under redman. Harrington and Lefty are not starters in this league

Redman will be an intresting case since he was obviously a Petrino guy.. I wonder if whatever new coach comes in will want a QB more fitted for his type of offense

that will be interesting since he has 3 very different types of player in Leftwich, Redman and Harrington. White did well with all of them this year so I have no worries about another new QB coming in. But who stays and who goes and do they draft someone or sign someone? Who will be avail?

Hmm, Falcons OC Hue Jackson was the WRs coach in Cincinnati from '04 to '06 so those comparisons may not be far off. Let's hope he sticks around past this year.

Do you think we've seen good WR play in Atlanta this year? Other than White, who has impressed you?

Other then White, none, but thats better then before. Robinson has shown some flashes and could step into the 2 role. Jenkins had a decent game or two but nothing special. But its a place to start with White and the potential of the other 2.

Should be a very interesting offseason in Atlanta. It's possible that Redman has played well enough to start next year in a mentoring role for an early 1st/2nd round drafted QB.

Roddy Whites numbers in his third year83/1202/6 14.9ypc 5 games over 100 yards
The most impressive thing is that he did it with the immortal Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich and Chris Redman. Definitely a guy to watch next year if the passing game improves even further - provided Laurent Robinson doesn't blossom himself and take away some stats.

I think Robinson will be a better WR then White .

Could be, but Robinson already has a ways to go just to accomplish what White did.

and I thought Michael Jenkins would be better then White but I was wrong. Roddy is more like Steve Smith and Chad Johnson.

If McNabb is traded... what are the chances ATL has interest?
I'd say there would be tremendous interest from the Falcons front office - depending on who the new coach/GM is and their thoughts on Redman. The Falcons have multiple second rounders from the Schaub trade to play with.

I'd really surprised if the new coaching staff retains Redman as a QB, seems to me that they'll try to get the Petrino stink off them as quickly as possible... although he played remarkably well for a guy who was stocking grocery shelves a few weeks ago

I believe Kurt Warner was stocking grocery shelves before he was picked up as a free agent (the 1st time). Redman was selling insurance, just like I do. Sure wish I could play QB like him - and I think he will get his shot next year.

I too picked up White early this season on the waiver wire and he greatly helped my team. I was really surprised by his production this year. As he has proven he can produce without having a great QB, I do like his future pretty well... but he definitely does not have the appeal that many other young WRs that have posted similar numbers. In the aforementioned league, which is a deep keeper league, I have shopped him a bit... and there isn't a ton of interest in him. I'm not shocked, but I was hoping the interest would be a little greater.
