Rookies tearing it up (1 Viewer)

Just looking at week 1, amazing how much rookies played and how much they produced

Qbs: Matt Ryan; Joe Flacco

RBs: Forte; Chris Johnson; Ray Rice; Kevin Smith; Mcfadden; Jon Stewart; Steve Slaton

WRs: Desean Jackson; Eddie Royal

TE: Carlson

IDP: Dwight Lowery/DB Jets

This just goes to show that rookies are given more responsibility these days and they are expected to produce right out of the gate. Something to use in dynasty leagues when it gets to the middle of the season....make that move to send a vet packing (that in your estimation is done after this year) and get a 1st or 2nd rounder to get some of these rookies.

I wonder if this year is the best ever week 1 by the rookies....for those that keep such crazy stats, any input?

It is very impressive. Henne also looked like he would start until a Parcells boy became available.

I'll agree that quite a few rookies had big fantasy days this week, but there are a few on your list that don't belong.McFadden 57 total yards. Rice 83 total yards (2.9 ypc against the BENGALS) and 1 fumble lost. Flacco just barely over 50% completion and no passing TDs also against the Bengals. Slaton, not even 50 total yards. Stewart 53 yards.

This is an unusually deep group of rookies, especially at the skill positions. I don't think you can draw any general conclusions from this year.

I agree they were not all big days but still the production and opportunity was there. And the opportunity will only grow....

The term used around the board is "sell high" and really depends on your team situation. God sakes you send your WR1 on the speculation that a WR drafted in the 2nd round will take his place. Watch Royal's # decrease with the return of Marshall this week bye the way... In your team , you'd need 7 first round picks. Tough to pull off.

1) Not all rookies produce at that level. Most end up being close to busts.2) Easier said than done. Despite that firsts and seconds produce a lot of bad players, owners in dynasty ain't rubes. Very difficult to trade older WRs for quality picks. I unloaded Bruce yesterday for a 2009 fouth-rounder (14-team league so the pick is likely around #50) and was happy to do so. Bruce wasn't going to crack my starting lineup. Even if he had a couple good games, his value wasn't going to increase significantly.
