Roy Williams this week (1 Viewer)

I didn't see the Lions in Week 1. I DID see the Bears.

Will Kitna foreseeably get enough time so that Williams is a decent play against the Bears? Could we expect the Favre to Driver numbers in Week 1 (7-96)?

Memo to Roy: ya don't have to predict a win. Predicting 7-110-1 is just fine though.

I will probably bench him in favor of Santana Moss. Untill he shows me something and Kitna can get him the ball.....he rides the bench.

Based on what I saw this weekend, I am going to start Lav. Coles and Andre Johnson as my WR2 and WR3 and leave Williams on the bench.

you know how this thread will end.... the week that RoyW is on everyones bench he will go off for 130/2tds. then everyone will start him the next week only to have him get hurt in the 1st qrt. i made this mistake last year

He's a big time player who is playing in a big time game. He'll come up big. start him w/o hesitation.

VILL

I expect Roy to have a good game against the Bears. I would start him. Chicago has a great D, but they aren't going to post a shutout 2 weeks in a row.

I'll go against the grain and start him this week. :wall:

I have a lot of options at receiver. I'm starting Chambers and Driver and then a choice of

R. Williams

A. Johnson

A. Bryant

T. Williamson

Really gonna have to think long and hard about this one.

man, sounds like a good time to trade for Roy.
i traded him away last week, for those who want to guage some value:Losman, BUF QB

Williams DET WR

Wilson CLE WR

Atlanta ATL Def

FOR

Rivers SDC QB

Bennett TEN WR

Williamson MIN WR

Baltimore BAL Def

Precisely why I have never considered him a starter. One of those guys that we continue to rank high on inflated potential but kills your fantasy team every week when he just doesnt get it done. I keep him ranked where everyone else has him, but I skip right over his name.

I am starting him with confidence. I didn't draft this guy at 4.09 to sit on my bench. WRs can be known for their inconsistency from week to week, and once you miss one of those big weeks it can make for a long season trying to catch the right one. Bottom line IMO is if you spent a decent pick on him you should play him.

Exactly, Roy Williams in not a stud. I've heard the term semi-stud bandied about before, and, while I'm not sure I subscribe to the theory, the fact of the matter is I have two 'semi-studs' in Lee Evans and Roy Williams. When faced with a situation such as this, I place a lot of emphasis on the player's opposition when making lineup decisions. And the Bears defense looked a helluva lot more impressive than the Dolphins.

I think we need to come up with a new term for receivers like Roy Williams, Andre Johnson, Jerry Porter...etc. I am open to suggestions. WRs that have all the physical tools to dominate, but fall short year after year.

How about: metro-stud

After hearing on THE FAN that Williams garaunteed a victory against the Bears this weekend, I doubt that he will be a good start. In fact, he will be lucky if he leaves the game with his head attached. :football:

Roy hurt me this week. But I just, and I mean just right now completed watching the shortcut on NFL Superfan. And the Lions offense was actually pretty impressive, between the 20's. Kitna was good and bad at times and he will find Roy plenty this season. Roys all he has on offense...

No worries, start him and the points will come. I'm far more encouraged now.

The amount of bitterness and overthinking in this thread, as is many threads, is comical. It amazes me how certain players draw blind hate or disapproval from people and others get free passes. Stallworth will always suck no matter what because he screwed you in a big game. TO is undraftable because he left you in the lurch one year. I remember when Fred Taylor was the worst pick you could ever make and Warrick Dunn and Tiki Barber were way to small to hold up and would never get you TD's. On and on, same old spiel, it's nothing everyone here hasn't heard.

I have nothing against personal preferences and standards, do what you want, but Roy had roughly 30 yards in week one, the first week of a brand new offense with a new coach and a new quarterback against a good defense in a tight game where neither team wanted to make a mistake. Get a grip, please. So now he is confined to everyone's benches because he'll never amount to anything? Astounding. The posts on this board after week one NEVER cease to amaze me. 80% of what I can only assume are rational thinking people most of the time throw their arms up in the air and desperately plead for help on what they can get for their first three draft picks...maybe somebody will trade you Pennington? Williams is going to be very good in this offense, but you might have to give it more than a game, I'm sorry to have to tell you that. And spare me the line about how the Bears are going to "rip his head off" now. So the rules are going out the window and the Chicago defense is going to hit him "extra" hard so he can't make any plays? I guess he did screw up because if he didn't say anything they would have gone easy on him. Lame.

Quiet with your rationale thoughts....

Very :goodposting: I got a good chuckle out of the Roy wont walk away from this game posts... If this were the case TO would have been out of football years ago...!!!

Or - STUThey've got to earn the D

I'm sitting him for

Holt/Matt Jones/Ike Bruce

Bench = Roy/Braylon

Betting there's 3/4 more TDs on SF's defense vs. CHI's - so I guess I'm hedging my STL WR bet. I'm pretty confident that Ike will outscore him this week.

This could be another 12-9 snoozer. I did play him last week and watching that game he had 2/3 easy drops. Nothing I'm worried about, but vs. da bears, I'll try my luck elsewhere.

If I only get four out of CJ and five out of Chambers...I can't be too hard on Roy for three points. If there was logic to that I'd bench them all for Bryant this week. That's not going to happen.

I'll bench Roy this week because I had a good draft, but that's the ONLY reason. I am happy to have him and feel good he'll produce in a big way for me eventually...

But then, I thought that last year about McAllister, McGahee, Horn, Bennett, K. Jones, JJ Arrington...DJax...ummm

Wait, why do I do this again?

Thing about WR is that if you bench 'em for a bad week, they'll blow up the next week. There's no rhyme or reason to WR scoring, so I'm gonna start Williams even though he only scored 3 pts.

Just because Chicago has a good D doesn't mean that all fantasy scoring goes out the window. They will eventually give up touchdowns, and who better than the #1 receiver in a new Mike Martz offense. I spent a 3.14 pick on him, but am not keeping him in as a stud, but just as a receiver, period.

Last week all star Antonio Bryant put up 11 pts with the amazingly talented SF offense. Exciting for my bench. Why would I start him this week, chasing last week's points and miss out on a better performance from Roy.
