RP position in weekly, H2H league....closer or 2 starter? (1 Viewer)

How do you decide what to do with your RP position?

I'm in a weekly, H2H league that isn't a 5x5 league. We get points awarded in different ways but there are no strict categories.

If I have a below average starting pitcher (who qualifies as an RP) and they have 2 starts in that week, am I ALWAYS better using them compared to a decent closer (not elite closer)?

It’s a points league? Do you have innings minimums per week?
Yes, points league. No minimums or max on innings pitched per week. The scoring is below but might look bad due to copy/paste format.

PITCHING NAME SETTINGS

BBIWalks Issued (Pitchers) -1 point

BSBlown Saves -5 points

CGComplete Games 5 points

EREarned Runs -1 point

HAHits Allowed -1 point

HBHit Batsmen -1 point

INNInnings 3 points

IRSInherited Runners Scored -1 point

KStrikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point

LLosses -5 points

NHNo-Hitters 15 points

PGPerfect Games 25 points

QSQuality Starts 2 points

SSaves 10 points

SOShutouts15 points

WWins 8 points

The 3 points per inning stands out there IMO.  SPARPs like Peacock seem to be the guy you'd want to target, and guys who regularly go 6+.  So from what I know I'd probably want a starter, even an ok one who gets 180 innings, over a crappy closer.

I agree that I'd plug a two-start pitcher over a decent closer, but with saves being worth 10 pts vs. wins at 8/losses at -5, I'd probably rather have a closer most weeks off the top of my head.
