Rudi improving as a receiver (1 Viewer)

As it did for Kevin Jones in PPR last season, Rudi's improvement in this area could bump him into the next tier of RBs.

The link isn't working for me. Can someone check it?I will say that I saw Rudi make a really nice catch against the Lions and wondered why he isn't used more. I'm not saying coaches don't know, but I saw a RB who looked very comfortable making the play.

He isn't used more in that role because he's a rotten receiver. What you saw was like getting a glimpse at an ivory-billed woodpecker. Count yourself lucky that you got to see it once before his career was over.

I'm not too concerned with whether Rudi can catch the ball well or not. He's a 230 pound power back. What's he going to do after he gets the ball out in the flat? That's just not his game.

Rudi's never going to be anything more than a safety valve in the passing game.

Here's the blurb:

PERSONNEL: Lewis credited tailback Rudi Johnson for working hard to improve his pass-receiving skills, and quarterback Carson Palmer noted how Johnson is catching the ball with his hands and not letting it get into his body.

In ppr, I don't care all that much what he does after the catch. One more catch per game would be a pretty big deal even if it's only 4 ypc. I do agree that in a non-ppr, this news is pretty meaningless.
