Man, the NFL's priorities are effed when smoking pot warrants a suspension but drag racing on public streets does not.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle and five-time Pro Bowler Jason Peters was arrested in Monroe early Wednesday morning after reportedly drag racing and resisting a police officer by flight.

Trying to piece together the fine/suspension I come up with this (guess)... Either he entered the league in Stage Two due to his history with drugs, or he failed a test and was entered into Stage One previously. Unless the violation is behaviorally related to drugs (i.e. not a positive test) the player is passed onto Stage Two automatically after a review period. So the 4/17ths fine was for the 1st violation after entering Stage Two (per the policy). And the "codeine" incident was the 2nd positive test in Stage Two, coming close enough on the heels of the first violation that they announced the penalties at the same time. If so, the two game suspension is for the 2nd violation while in Stage Two, and could indicates that there may actually be some mitigating circumstances since the normal penalty would be four games. If that's right -- and he has two violations after entering Stage Two -- he'd be in Stage Three now for the rest of his career.

According to ESPN Cleveland, suspended Browns WR Josh Gordon "gravitated to South Beach in south Florida" after having "virtually no leisure time away from football" as a rookie.
Per reporter Tony Grossi, Gordon began to "(run) with a different crowd" after being "shy and a bit of a loner" as a rookie. It resulted in a positive test for codeine, and reportedly has him one strike away from a one-year suspension. Gordon has also spent the past week mixing it up with Miami Heat "haters" on Twitter, which is a uniquely poor idea for a young athlete in Cleveland. Still only 22, Gordon needs to grow up in a hurry.

Ladies and gentlemen I think we have a new dumbest player in the NFL. Kenny Britt will be assigned second dumbest until further notice.

Josh needs to screw his head on quickly but I am not confident in that happening with this 22 year old. The new regime has no loyalty to him and so I would give him a 3% pulling out of this abyss of trouble without a year suspension for the remainder of his career. Maybe after a year off he will join Jamarcus Russell camp and try to get it together.
