Just heard that the Dolphins are considering offering their top pick in the 2008 NFL Draft for a package to include Derek Anderson.

Good post.Rumors don't fly on the board for long - please cite a source.

Re: this topic, there is no way uinder god's green earth Parcells trades the 1 overall for a first year starter at QB. ETA - I could see this happening if Cleveland sends their 1 plus Anderson, plus a 3rd or next year's 1 to the 'phins, they'll give them the #1 overall.

That said, I wonder what "package" the Browns could offer that would remotely interest the Dolphins. Anderson, a 2nd, a 4th, and next year's 1st MIGHT get them there.

:goodposting:I stated it above - this years 1, next year's 1 plus Anderson (and maybe another pick for good measure) would probably get it done

Agreed. This would be absurd.

a 1st yr start who was amazing.... the quote is package, which mean Cleveland will be most likely sending over 2009' 1st with Anderson.DA / 2009 1st for 1.01... do it. Then the Browns would be ready for DMac

Are you a Browns' fan?Anderson was surprising - not amazing. And parcells has an inherent distrust of young QBs. This will NOT happen w/o a TON more than next year's 1 plus Anderson.

Clevelands 2008 1st was Brady Quinn
?? What do you mean- they have no #1 this year? Then forget this deal. Dolphins will NOT trade out of the first this year.

For a minute there, before reading the words "part of a package", I was getting ready to put the barrel of a gun in my mouth.

And I still almost want to do it anyway. Anderson was good, but way too many INTs for my liking. Us Dolphin fans have seen enough INTs over the last decade to last us until the end of time.

They don't have a 1 this year.
T/Y - then this ia ridiculous rumor - still need a source. Cleveland lacks the ammo to get the #1 overall w/o a first rounder this year. This is clearly a Browns honk statement hoping for a way into the 1st. Simply 'aint gonna happen.

If you're going to throw rumors around like that, you should at least indicate where you read/heard this report. This is lame.

I don't think this trade will happen either but if the Dolphins did select a QB as their 1st pick as a QB, I'd bet just on percentages that that QB wouldn't turn out as good as Derek Anderson.I think having the No. 1 pick usually is overhyped unless there's just 1 player that you know he's a man amongst boys. That happens about 1 every 5 years.

I've heard rumors about Mcnabb. That's probably sort of exciting for Dolphin fans but let's face it, you're not winning anything next year and most likely not the year after that. You're in a rebuilding stage and do you rebuild with Donovan McNabb? How many good years does he have left? On another topic, I think for McNabb going to Miami to throw to Ted Ginn Jr. would be a big mistakes to finish off his career.

That could work... the Brass in Cle seem to be the deal making type.

No... not a Browns Fan... but he is better than the QBs coming out of the Draft. Look at it this way, 1.01 will make more $$ than DA anyway; why not save some $$ and get better talent.

I think I'm in the minority here but I'm not sold on Anderson. He was a great come out of nowhere story to help a struggling franchise but he had a good/very good supporting cast. He had a good developing line, an all-pro TE and one of the most talented wr's in the league and Miami has nothing except an injured R. Brown.

Over the 1st half of the year he had 2108 yards (264/gm) 19 tds (17+2 rush) and nearly 23 fpts/gm while the 2nd half of the year he had 1679 (210 yrds/gm) 13 tds (12+1) and 16 fpts/gm. A dramatic dropoff. Was it due to easy strength of schedule in the 1st half, not enough film/gameplanning by opposition? I'm not sure but I am sure that he wouldn't be nearly the same QB on Miami that he was in Clev.. The best thing IMO that the Browns can do is trade him while his value is still sky high.

Who would Anderson be throwing to if he went to Mia. He had some pretty nice weapons with the Browns (Edwards/KW2)......Mia.......not so much

Bill prides himself on finding young / good QBs late in drafts and FA... it seems he doesn't like to pick QBs early.

I think they will trade the pick... I doubt in a deal like this; its probably been offered and rejected. But I will be really surprise if they keep this pick and take a QB.

Who is anyone going to be throwing to when they start for Miami?Tom Brady has some pretty nice weapons to throw too as well and some pretty good guys blocking for him. He gets them the ball and gets the credit for doing so. Same goes with Anderson. There isn't a QB in the league that does everything themself, so to me saying he's got some talent to throw the ball too means nothing.Look at the top fantasy QBs in the league and tell me they don't have someone to throw the ball too.

Most of the time when board people say there is a "rumor" it is some hack on the radio talking about a what if situation, not an actual rumor.

This is BS, it wouldnt happen and it isnt a rumor.

Considering he started Bledsoe over Romo forever, I'd say you're probably right. It's probably the smart move to trade the pick because the Dolphins need many holes to fill. It's not the sexy thing to do, as you always wish you could take the No. 1 pick.....it's exciting. And if there was a manchild in the draft, someone who's just awesome and you and everyone knows it, you'd take him.But I don't see that guy, I'd trade the pick for multiple picks.
