RUMOR: Raiders Agree to Contract with Quinn (1 Viewer)

Raiders | Deal with Cleveland a possibility?

Fri, 27 Apr 2007 12:05:48 -0700

ESPN's Ed Werder reports there is a chance the Oakland Raiders work out a trade with the Cleveland Browns during the first round of the NFL Draft. There is speculation the Browns could send WR Braylon Edwards to the Raiders in addition to the No. 3 pick overall for the first-overall selection.

That is only a good deal for Oakland if the Browns have to take Moss as part of the trade.

More links needed? That's funny! This begs the question, how many?

ETA, which mod added "Not confrimed by a long shot" ?

Randy Moss-WR- Raiders Apr. 27 - 4:18 pm et NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders "will make every attempt" to trade Randy Moss over the weekend. If the Raiders can't move him this weekend, there's a good chance Moss will be released later in the offseason. Profootballtalk.com ran a report early Friday morning that Oakland is asking for a second-round pick. It's believed the Packers would be willing to part with a fourth-rounder.

How much of this is just reporters parroting the same things we're reading?Maske said in his 1:30 chat that he was hearing the "Oak deal with Quinn" rumors, but when someone asked him about the fact that it was HIS name attached to the rumor he was all

If this holds up to be true, it's the smartest move the Raiders could have made, aside from trading down.

You will soon love Brady Quinn.
:goodposting:
 and...

The Washington Post reports "source familiar with the deliberations" says Oakland has not been in contact with LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell as of this afternoon.

The Raiders are reportedly in contract talks with Brady Quinn, who may be willing to take a small amount less than Russell to be the No. 1 pick. Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is also believed to favor Quinn over Russell.

Earlier on the Mike and the Mad Dog radio show here in NY, Mike Francessa (who is supposedly very well connected with NFL sources) said JaMarcus Russell has NEVER been contacted directly by the Raiders through the whole scouting process. Maybe this is public knowledge, but I hadn't heard it until today and was pretty surprised by this.

Why he could go No. 1: Some people believe Quinn is the favorite of Raiders coach Lane Kiffin. The reasoning goes that Quinn is the better fit for the offense Kiffin will install and is the kind of self-assured leader who could get Kiffin's regime off on the right foot. A starter of 46 games in college, Quinn could be ready to go by midseason or earlier. Had TD-to-interception mark of 69-14 in two years under Charlie Weis.

Why he won't: Accuracy sometimes lacking in his passing at crucial moments. Has some wondering if he's closer to Rick Mirer than Joe Montana. Had some of his most shaky performances in Notre Dame's biggest games.

Lane Kiffin says: "I love Brady when he brings them back. He's best when they're down. He did that against USC two years ago. He's been doing it for two years, he's real exciting because he's a big-time competitor, and it comes out of him."

Lies.

If Tampa does want to trade up, you'd think Oakland would take advantage of that and take Quinn/Russell at 4. Why let Detroit benefit? One would likely be there.

:lmao:

Because they prefer one over the other, is my guess.Trust me, I've been trying to figure ways to move down, get picks, and still get Russell (the guy they want). The only thing I could come up with was moving down with Tampa, and back up with Detroit.Cleveland is the fly in the ointment.Course, if all Detroit is getting is a bag of footballs and some nudie magaizines, then OAK may as well stay put.

Yea, if they really want Russell then they probably have to stay put. But it seems to me like Quinn would be there at 4. I dunno.

The funny thing is I was thinking about the Browns selecting Quinn at 1.03 and then packaging the 2nd round pick + Braylon Edwards to move back into the lower part of round 1 to select LT Joe Staley. Odd that I had Edwards singled out as the most "tradable commodity" on the Browns as well.

That's a good question. Which player on the Browns right now has the most trade value? (Steinbach excluded)

Or the Browns take Tony Ugoh in the second round.

I think if the Raiders trade to 4, they fear that they might lose out on both QBs. Either that or they really want Quinn and think Cle might take him over Russell. Personally, I don't think BQ over JR in Cle is that much of a stretch. Savage supposedly loves JR, but you don't think Romeo wants his own version of Tom Brady? You don't think he's been on the horn with his old buddy Charlie Weis.Trading down to four and getting JaMarcus seems like a coup on paper, but is it really for Kiffin if he prefers Quinn?

To make this more factual, it'd read "and still get Russell (the guy MassRaider wants)". We do not know who the Raiders really want. We do know who MassRaider wants though, there is no doubt of that.BTW, I'm starting to agree with MassRaider more and more on Russell. I still want to trade down though.

:( True, true. But even if we want Quinn, there's no guarantee who CLE wants. ####### Browns are gumming up the works.

This thread makes me think I should give up on the Shark pool for the next 72 hours or so. All these BS rumors are giving me a headache.

CLE trading Edwards? Horrible.
