Running Backs (1 Viewer)

Just to bring up someone no one else is mentioning... Darrius Reynaud.Javon Ringer isn't good enough to be a feature back and Reynaud has shown lots of ability on special teams and in preaseason. When Chris Johnson gets phased out Reynaud will have a chance to do some damage. Maybe not a pickup right now, but a name to remember.
I'm in one league that gives points for return yards and Reynaud is killing it so far for the guy that owns him.

Thanks for the heads-up. Ringer is coming back from a scary elbow infection. I have thought of Darius Reynaud as more of a kick returner and a reserve in the receiving game, not as much at RB, but I see the Titans list him at RB, so it bears watching with the freefall of CJ2 and the apparent lack of depth at the position.I am actually looking for Ringer to begin cutting into Johnson's carries beginning this week.

I dropped Quiz for Bilal Powell. Quiz was picked up immediately so I hope it doesn't come back to bite me. My thinking was that Quiz really hasn't looked that good and though Powell hasn't looked great its been better. We will see but I think Powell will unseat Greene before Quiz unseats Turner.

With the news of Joe McKnight moving to corner Powell needs to be picked up in all leagues. There is no other competition for RB to replace Greene.
I picked up Jonathan Grimes , because I think there will not only be competition, but that Grimes will win it.

Please tell us more....why do you think this?
I know Greene isn't getting it done and I agree they'll probably look to Powell first, but they also just picked up Grimes from the Texans practice squad and word is that the Texans were very much hoping he'd stay under the radar as they'll probably lose Tate next year. The Texans have good recent history in their RB evaluation. I also know that Grimes was lighting it up in the preseasonPowell would be next up, for now. I get that. But even though he's probably better than Greene, that only means he's better than Greene. So what does that say? Powell isn't exactly lighting it up himself. But hey, this is all just me thinking out loud. I have a hunch like this at least once a year. Some pan out. Some don't. You all might look into him and make your own determination.

I have a feeling this is going to bite you, not in the way that Quizz will be a top 20 back, but you will end up playing the guy he will start Quizz and it is the day he catches 6 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown and he gets 10 rushes for 40 yards and another touchdown. It always seems to work that way.

Ok lets play a name game:

I would rather roster Ryan Grant over the following fliers yes or no:

William Powell- see huge thread. Has potential, bad O-line and for now is backup to R. Williams

Hillman- good talent 3rd round pick. Behind an aging injury prone McGahee but there is still Ball/Moreno

Draughn- #3 guy on run heavy offense in KC and has talent. #2 guy banged up and he looks to spell JC so JC stays fresh. Probably good for 8-15 touches/game

Gerhart- fumbilitis aside, productive last year when AP out. HC to a guy who came off major surgery 9 months ago

BLount- #2 in run heavy offence. 1000 yard rusher in 13 games 2010. Behind a rookie who is only get 3.4 ypc and coaches said they need to run him more.

Miller- has done will running as a backup in 2/3 games. #3 on depth chart but more talented than D. Thomas

Joique Bell- 2 decent fantasy games so far. Been annointed "the closer" by coach for foreseeable future and has looked good as a pass catching back but has K. Smith and soon Best waiting in the wings.

Vick Ballard- most talented RB in Indy. Behind competent Brown. At some point if still losing team may want to see what they have in him.

For now these are the only guys I see out there that might not be on rosters that might be fantasy relevant going forward.

Should Tanner be added to this list? Murray runs like Earl Cambell and he could get dinged as season goes on.

I picked up Grimes too. I'm just wondering why you think they will lose Tate next year? His contract ends after the 2013 season. With his talent...at $500k...they'll probably keep him as cheap and top notch insurance, so I doubt they'll trade him, considering RBs usually don't fetch much.

I'm liking Joique Bell. I also like William Powell.. both are in a similar situation. Both following a rookie who was injured early last year. Seems highly unlikely Williams and Leshoure get full loads, rather RBBC seems more likely the course. I like Bell's situation a bit better. Leshoure is already hurt after week 1, and would think Schwarz learns his lesson from overloading Mikel his first week back. I would think he should split the load more evenly down the road. I am personally surprised they bailed on KSmith so soon. However based on last week, and recent press articles, Bell is #2 on the depth chartI also think DET's running game in general will be more productive this year than AZ, especially in PPR (offensive line)
When is best eligible to practice and then play?

There are rumors that the Eagles might trade Dion Lewis:

Beat writer Tim McManus suggests the Eagles may be willing to listen to trade offers for RB Dion Lewis.

Lewis has been a healthy scratch in four of five games this season, as Bryce Brown has taken over backup duties and Chris Polk contributes on special teams. A potential holdup is that the teams most obviously on the hunt for a tailback need more of a volume sustainer, not a satellite back best used in space. Oct. 12 - 9:23 am et

I still like Best even with Leshoure there. I'll be so glad when the Best waiting madness ends.

Opps Edit: meant Bell.

I wouldn't get too excited about Dion Lewis.

If I were to make a preemptive grab at a RB who may be traded, it'd be for Ivory over Lewis. He has a better chance of taking on a larger workload. Lewis really does nothing for ARI or GB, they don't need him.
