Guys - any thoughts to Jared Odrick playing NT? Miami is loaded at DE for their 3-4 but desperately need help in the middle. Can he be an anchor? Hes a huge man but seems to be regarded more as a five technique.Thoughts?
I thought I heard it mentioned on NFLN that Miami would be using him at LB.

I'd be very surprised if Miami sees him as a fit as a two-gap nose tackle (and he's not at all a fit at OLB). He might have been able to pull off a Jay Ratliff type role in more of a 1-gap 3-4, but I can't see him there in Miami. I think he goes into the already solid rotation at end.

At 304 pounds?
That's what I thought I'd heard, but as you can see from Jene's comments he's not at all a fit at LB.

Thanks man.

He will probably play DE in their defense.

Love the Jahvid Best pick...was hoping he'd fall to Detroit. This is a terrific player, better runner inside than Spiller.
This Lion's fan is totally stoked about this pick. :lmao:
Jim Schwartz and Mayhew are doing well - Stafford for Calvin Johnson. Great pick. Burleson to complement Johnson, great pick up if he can stay healthy. Scheffler as a move TE with Pettigrew on the line. Good stuff. Suh at the second pick in a 4-3...beautiful with Vanden Bosch and Avril on the corners and Corey Williams inside. Suddenly they have a defensive line. I would be very excited about Best. I agree with Dodds that he's a special back. The healthy issue is the only concern and I think people are overreacting to the current events. Only Mathews is arguably better.

Guys- thanks for coming out! It was HOT under those studio lights, and we appreciate you guys tuning in! :hifive:It's nice to know that many of you consider us an upgrade to watching ESPN/NFLNFirst day in the books, now I'm going to write about some picks and get to bed. Gotta get ready for day two! :excited:
:bag: Indeed it is an upgrade over the ESPN/NFLN, being in Australia my only option was watching everything online so I was streaming the NFL Network and you guys at the same time.....and for the most part had the sound down on the NFL Network coverage so I could listen to yourself and Russ.I'll be tuning in again tomorrow to do the same.....great job today!!

Been a little up and down here. Gone of air for about five minutes at one point like Identikit said and then slowly got better until no issues. Now I'm getting Be back after a 2 minute break graphic.
FWIW, seemed to be less glitchy using the GMJR option.

I think you and I may have been talking about this last night on the Ustream feed, Wildman, and I agree. Best is probably one of my favorite players in this class. LOVE the player, just hate the ugly injury he's coming off of. Will be fun to see how he develops. That said, that was probably one of my favorite picks of the night. It just made a whole lot of sense.

I'm of the belief - and I'm having a tough time articulating it fully right now so bear with me - that people are overreacting to the severity of his injury. Yes, it was scary-looking. Yes, concussions are a rightfully a hot-button topic that the NFL ignored for far too long until it was forced into their grill last year. But, don't you think there are several dozen skill players who have had their bell rung and played for another three, five or 10 years? I know I'm making the injury out to seem like it's not that serious. He missed four games and doesn't remember anything from the moment he hit the ground and spent the night in the hospital. I realize that's very serious. However, I think the durability-short career prognostications might be a natural overreaction to the current social climate.

great job guys......such a shame you won't be around for Day 3, I think this is where you in depth/quality analysis would be appreciated and come to the fore. I hope to see you back in 2011!!

Streaming this over the next couple of days here at work. Still a great take even a few days after the draft has ended; great analysis!!!
