Ryan Grant (1 Viewer)

Just have a feeling he will be very heavily involved and have a great game tonight. I think Dallas run D is ranked highly in yardage due to the fact that they get up on just about every team they play, whereas Green Bay will be in the game for 4 quarters. I dont know that they are great run stuffers, just that nobody has been able to be patient enough to run on them. Alternatively Grant can just have 14 catches tonight like Westy did against them.17 carries for 75 yards with a TD. 6 catches for 35 yards.i wont make the mistake of benching Grant again anytime this season, as long as i am still in the playoffs..
I think you're on to something here about the Cowboys run DEF playing from ahead as well as GB stretching the DAL DEF with WR's to the point that the run, draw and dump off pass to Grant will be effective. I saw Missouri do the same thing to Kansas last week.

I've toyed with this idea myself, but I think people are looking at overall Denver stats and are discounting the recent resurgence of the D. Not that they're good, but I don't think they're quite the pushover they were earlier. The stats say they're still giving up a lot of yards, but out of the last 3 games, the most rushing yards they've given up to a single player was 74 to VYoung (granted, you could combine benson/peterson for 90 and a score). They've also only given up 2 rushing TDs, 1 to Young.

Not saying Fargas isn't a good matchup, but it's not the no-brainer it was anymore. Also, another stat to keep in mind:

Ryan Grant vs MIN - 25/119/1

I benched Grant last week because he was a bit of a question mark health-wise and ended up thinking myself into a corner due to injuries anyway. Went with C. Henry (the druggie from Cincy, not the druggie from TEN) at flex because Jacobs, Chatman, and Steve Smith all had issues.

I'm not doing that this week. Grant's healthy and has continually exceeded expectation, so I'm going with him in the early game. I'll figure out what to do with all these other guys (through Bowe, Roy Williams, and Kolby Smith into the mix as well) later in the week.

I have been starting him with confidence for the past 2 weeks and I am going to continue to start him with confidence, through the playoffs to hopefully the bowl game!
:moneybag: Same here. The man's been money for me  Starting him over Kolby, Chatman and Fred Taylor...If it ain't broke, don't fix it :bag:

GB is using the pass to set up the run. See, for example, the Minny game - Minn has one of the top rushing defenses in the league, but they had to play back to try to contain the GB pass attack. That really opened up room for Grant to play. And you make a great point about the Cowboy's run defense. In general, high-powered offenses are going to give up less rushing yardage simply because other teams are going to play catch up. Of course, if a high-powered offense has a poor rush defense (see Indy), one strategy is to keep running the ball and keeping that offense off the field. Of course, some of that is predicated on stopping them.

4/71/1 in the 1st quarter. I can dig it. Now, why the hell does Jennings have 0 targets!?!?

Too bad he won't help me next week (missing the playoffs), the kid's been money.

Edit: Jennings got some there

Through about 3 quarters:

Rushing CAR YDS TD LG

R. Grant 13 94 2 62

Anyone sit him? If so, curious as to whom for?

Sat him for Kolby Smith for the 2nd straight week. Was PO'd after last Thursday's game when Grant had a solid outing, but Kolby out performed him. Unfortunately, I'm not thinking it's going to happen again this week.

Plugged him in about 5 minutes before kick-off...

Had a couple other decent options but with too many "dinged" guys, at least Grant was healthy.

On my dynasty squad I've also got Sjax, Portis, Bush, and AD, but Grant has still been in my lineup the last 3 weeks and I can't see myself putting him on the bench the rest of the year, this kid is just on fire.

I sat him for Fargas. My streak of making wrong decisions continues.
There is still hope, don't go nuts yet. I really wish I would make the playoffs. I caught fire the second half of the season with SJax and Grant, but will probably not make it due to some crappy early season performances....ENough about me, Grant is solid, kid has decent speed, hates being tackled and it looks like defenders hate tackling him.

Started him the last 2 weeks in a total of 4 leagues as a flex play.......he will never see the bench again. Ever!

Loved him from the pre-season with the Giants, snatched him up right after the trade to GB. he has pretty much been money since his first opportunity. Definitely sitting in the front seat of the RG bandwagon... :11:

Snagged him off the waiver wire five weeks ago - thought he'd already been picked up. Keeping him plugged into the lineup the rest of the year - which may end this week if Moss goes off for my opponent. :lmao:

Looking at the game play-by-play vs Dallas, why did he only have one carry the entire 4th qaurter?
good question. The way Rodgers was tossing the ball with successshould have opened up the running game. And to see a stud like Grant get one carry in the 4this plain mismanagement of the game, imo.

The Packers do this EVERY game. It is very frustrating. Look over the weeks since Grant has been a starter. He has absolutely BLOWN UP in the first half of games, only to be reduced to a few carries in the second half. Outside of Thanksgiving when they only handed it off about 3-4 times in the first half, and then Grant exploded with the few chances that he got in the second half. It's crazy.... the Packers run in reverse it seems for the most part. Even in games where they were up big, and completely successful with Grant in the first half, they would just have Farve out there slinging the ball around until the end of the game. You would figure with such a successful runner, that they would do a little clock control, and let Grant chew up the second half's on the ground. Especially against the Cowboys, you would figure that they would want to keep Dallas' offense off of the field as much as possible... bad playcalling.

my god he was a workhorse tonight and he looked SO MUCH better than any other GB Back I have seen all season.im snagging this dude off waivers. he is the guy. morency is horrible, so are wynn and jackson.ryan grant at least looks serviceable and runs without a sense of entitlement. he is good at picking up the blitz-(tivo back and watch the two long passes).. the packers are having a dream season and he is worth a flyer at this point if you have a roster spot filled by a turd...i honestly dont think teams employ a true RBBC unless they have two talented backs with significantly different skillsets. everyone in green bay sucks. if he can play the rest of the season like he did tonight, he would be a sick RB3/Flex with upside any given week.
I am so freaking smart i scare myself.

A monster matchup this week for sure. This is, of course, because I don't need anything. Maybe I'll rest him for the playoffs...

I sat him on Thanksgiving (accidently, I forgot GB was the early game) and sat him against Dallas (due to their highly-ranked rush defense). I've finally put him in my starting lineup now and I'm not even going to think about removing him for the playoffs ...

thanks to all in this thread for showing me Grant was a nice late season trade target. Not to put too much on your shoulders Ryan, but your matchup vs Oakland is about my only chance to knock off my stud opponent (my brother also) in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.

180 total yards with 2 TDs too much to ask?

I wouldn't say it's probable but it's possible, especially with Favre being dinged up. They will lean on Grant and the run game big time this weekend.

Because I did not make the playoffs, I will put out a bold, meaningless prediction: 200 Total yards, 2 TDs :penalty: He may go higher
