S Bernard Pollard cut by Chiefs (1 Viewer)

Damn, he was one of my starters at safety, now what... apparently the word is the coach wanted to start the injury-prone Mike Brown over him anyways and he was fielding trade offers. This guy is clearly going to be grabbed off of waivers, as for me, just a fantasy GM fighting for bragging rights, looks like I'll need to cut him to make sure I field a full line-up come week 1!

I owe Pollard for knocking out Brady last year on my birthday. It was one of the greatest presents Ive ever received, and was a gift that kept on giving when the Stillers won the Super Bowl.

Thank You Bernard Pollard

Mike Brown? Really? The guy had talent but no way he stays healthy a whole season.

Thank God for the KC and Denver messes. It looks like the Raiders will have at least 4 wins this season.

ETA: For as long as he stays healthy... which should not be too long... he should have have real value. That D will be ripped apart and the safeties should see lots of action. Mike is actually a great ball hawking playmaker as well, which is likely why he pushed Pollard out the door. If you do not have to rely on him, likely a good pick up. Assuming he is gonna start that is but I have done some poking around more and it looks like that was the buzz before the cuts were made.

It makes no sense, but it makes my cuts that are due Monday a little easier.
Really. May be on the Lions before that. Pollard and Delmas. How long will Mike Brown last? From a chiefs blog-Pollard Release was REVENGE!Pioli makes me sick...he clearly did this as pay back for Pollard injuring Brady last year he still owes Bill B...what a bunch of bull...he was too young to cut he was aggressive hard hitting and discipline comes with time...you don;t go releasing draft picks like they are nothing and this regime has let go of quite a few potentially promising previous picks what a shame and a sham

Interesting how they traded for Cassel though... come to think of it, how ironic would it be if the Patriots landed Pollard? Let the conspiracy theories fly!!!...

Where do others think DaJuan Morgan fits into this picture? Considering Brown's injury history, Morgan would be my hedge at this stage to fill Pollard's boots sooner rather than later.

From a chiefs blog-

Pollard Release was REVENGE!

Someone will claim him before the Pats.

The Chiefs depth chart has Page a backup and John McGraw the starter at FS.

Derrick Johnson rd on depth chart?

Bowe a backup too?

Now I say Pioli and McDaniels left the Pats to destroy the AFC West.

Lord o almighty -

Agree with most above - he was one of my 4 starters in a tackle league - was looking forward to the long drives against that pathetic Chief defense - now I pray for a Lion pickup - everybody think he is a for sure pick up by a bad team ? Brown great but like said - - can he stay 90 degrees vertical for more than 6 games?

Revenge? Seriously? Pollard was almost replaced by the old regime when the drafted Morgan its not like every off season his job was a stable situation...The new regime didn't owe him anything so they cut him for whatever reason. For all we know it could have been some behind the scene issues, work ethic, or missing assignments (similar to Neduke in Cinci) who knows. But I doubt it was "revenge".

Well I decided to be proactive, I cut Pollard and went after the rookie Louis Delmas of Detroit...

My cuts are due at noon tomorrow and I am really having a hard time as it is so unless Pollard finds a nice soft landing spot in the next 24 hours I am going to have to let him go. He was the #18 DB in my league last year. It's unbelievable.

Don't underestimate McGraw. When he was with the Jets, he played very well. That is, when he played. He just could not stay healthy, largely due to his tendency to play recklessly with little regard for getting hurt. And he got hurt... often.

Detroit should be the favorite to claim Pollard. It depends on what Gunther Cunningham (KC DC from 2004-08) thinks of him.

Houston could be a landing spot. Texan DB coach David Gibbs has ties with Pollard also. He coached the KC secondary from 2006-08, they could use some safety help.

OK. At least they have Page if he gets hurt again. Brown and McGraw both play all out then.

I drafted him 1 hour before he gets released. What should I do? Should I cut him, or just wait to see if he lands somewhere else....and, if I do, where do you think he will land and what will it do to his fantasy value. Any thought would be extremely welcome!!!!! I had him ranked pretty high, did anyone else??

Hang tight and see where he lands.

I'm surprised no one has claimed him yet.In the one league where I have him another team cut Kenny Phillips and I took Delmas in draft. I feel better than I did yesterday.

Me too. He's not great in coverage, is it really this bad?

If no one claims when does he become a FA?

Not totally up on this, beleive he's a FA now. Teams are signing practice squad players and they had to clear waivers first.

Watch Seattle/KC week 3 preseason game. Check out Carllsons TD. That wasn't his worst missed tackle! Cut him. Now

Pollard a poor fit for Chiefs' scheme, attitudePosted Sept. 10, 2009 @ 11:16 a.m.

By Michael Blunda

Of all the cuts made by the Chiefs in early September to meet the 53-man roster limit, perhaps none was more surprising than that of SS Bernard Pollard. A second-round pick in 2006, Pollard started all but one game for Kansas City over the past two seasons, piling up 188 tackles. It looked like he’d start again in ’09, but he was released and will be replaced in the lineup by veteran offseason pickup Mike Brown. From what we hear, Pollard was let go not because of Brown’s preseason performance — which wasn’t anything spectacular — but because he did not fit in with the team’s new defensive scheme. GM Scott Pioli reportedly shopped the Purdue product until the very end, but he couldn’t even get a seventh-round pick in return, showing the lack of interest for Pollard around the league. Lacking fundamentals and known to frequently miss tackles, Pollard is the type of player the Chiefs’ new regime wants to purge as they attempt to transform the franchise.

Why no bites on Pollard yet? Could this be it for him in the NFL? I find that hard to believe, but I'm just kind of dumbfounded that he still isn't signed by anyone. What's going on here?

I also went the same route. And I agree. Surprising that Pollard is still on the market. Maybe his lack of coverage skills are really hindering teams to sign this guy?
