Saint D starters (1 Viewer)

LB: Fujita SLB Clark MLB Simoneau WLBSS StoutmireFS BullocksSomeone shed some light on this.
Charles Grant and Will Smith will start at end. Michael Haynes and Rob Ninkovich may rotate in, but not nearly as much as in prior seasons when Darren Howard and a younger Willie Whitehead were factors. Brian Young and Hollis Thomas will get the bulk of playing time at tackle.Scott Fujita is now entrenched at SLB with Scott Shanle having the upperhand at WLB. Simoneau probably sees snaps in nickel package and spelling Shanle as needed. If Clark signs here, it's almost certainly to start at MLB, although I suppose it's possible that the Saints want him only for depth since they broke camp with only four viable options at LB (Terrence Melton shouldn't see the field). Fincher would become a special teams/backup type. All signs point to Roman Harper at SS and Josh Bullocks at FS. The future is now for the Saints. Stoutmire is a horrible option as a starter and was originally brought in as a known special teams quantity more than anything else. If the reports are true, Clark is in and Bellamy is out. Bryan Scott will work in at times as well. Mike McKenzie and Fred Thomas are the corners.

11 guys that are going to get beaten...badly...the next 17 Sundays. The team is doing the right thing by cleaning the clubhouse and attempting to start over but the linebackers and defensive backs are either not qualified or inexperienced.

Smith and Grant are worth owning and playing this season and beyond.

Harper and Bullocks are worth owning for spot play this season or dynasty play. I would not count on either as starters week in and out.

Whomever ends up at MLB is worth owning for spot play this season. Probably a position that is addressed in the draft. If the Saints are going to be as bad as I think, then they'll get a GOOD look at a couple of blue chip prospects at MLB next April.

Fincher is worth keeping for 1 more season in dynasty play. You probably got him fairly cheap...4th, 5th or 6th rounder last spring...so stash him away. He'll get a crack at playing MLB this season on Sundays.

If the MLB is the QB of the defense...how can Clark come in and make the defensive calls w/ less than one week in the system? Granted he's the most talented for the position, but time in system makes me wonder how he could run it.

They have been shuffling people in and out at MLB. Is it possible that Scott Fujita is making the defensive calls?

I think it's mostly a matter of learning the terminolgy as most 4-3 defenses are pretty much the same. I think he'll get spot duty one, maybe two weeks & will be starting by the third. In the meantime I would have to agree with Beaumont with Fujita making the calls until the MLBs are up to par.
Of Will Smith and Charles Grant, which is the one to own? My league gives DL 2 points per tackle, 3 per sack.
Smith, Grant has been tailing off.
