Sam Bradford (1 Viewer)

through the first 3 games of the season I literally couldn't be happier with what I am seeing from the Saint Louis Rams. They have been competitive in every game narrowly losing two games and winning another. Although, I am not sure the talent is a lot different from last year, there is a clear difference in the team. I believe the difference is Sam Bradford.

First and foremost I think its a very telling sign how much confidence the rams organization already has in this guy. Even with Steven Jackson healthy through the first two and a half games they have thrown the ball 58% of the time. I do understand his stats are not anywhere close to elite, but look what this guy has to work with. I think we all can agree that mark Clayton is a below average WR in the NFL.... he is the clear cut no. 1 guy in the offense. I do like Amendola and think he could develop into a solid slot guy for the future but I am not sold yet that hes a reliable receiver. i will give him one thing he does have a solid line that gives him time, but its tough when you have no one reliable to through the ball to.

Yesterday my heart sank a little when I saw Sjax go down and figured the rams would fall down like a sack of potatoes like they have for the past 5 years whenever they hit adversity. But, Sammy wouldn't let that happen. He Consistently drove down the field making smart plays and being extremely accurate even with Washington playing the pass, knowing only Kenneth Darby was in the backfield. He led them on four scoring drives in the 3rd and 4th quarter and looked in complete control of the offense.

Now I am not expecting a pro bowl appearance this year...Frankly, he just doesn't have the weapons right now to succeed like that. but if you look past the numbers and watch this kid you'll understand what I am saying... hes going to be a top ten QB by the end of the year and could potentially join the elite of Brees Rodgers Brady and Manning within the next 2 years if the rams get him some playmakers to work with.

just my two cents, take it for what its worth...which is probably nothing to most of you lol

as long as you aren't too heavily penalized by turnovers he seems like he has what it takes to be at least the back end of the top 10 here on out.

All the Bradford haters are going to be eating crow, maybe as soon as this year (MOP>hi). He's gonna be elite.

i dont think hes top 10 this year, but i think thats purely because of the receiving options hes got to work with. im blown away by his ability to keep drives alive and throw on the run. i think they need to spend their 1st rounder next year on a corner, but the majority of that draft should be dedicated to getting this guy some weapons. if that happens, he could ascend the ranks QUICK. future is bright for the rams IMO

p.s. i was a bradford doubter coming into the season so i have done a complete 180

CB is about the Rams strongest position besides QB and RB. The Rams need a #1 WR, #2 RB and pass rushing DE first and foremost. The Rams have slowly plugged their gaps and are on the rise.

Don't know about this year, but he is gonna be a really good one. You can already see it. I admittedly was not very high on him as a pro coming out of college (I wasn't down on him per se, but I was not sky high on him either), but having watched him for three games, you can just tell he gets it. Rams fans should be excited as hell about this guy. ;)

agreed, but not till the end of 2014, and only if they acquire a legit #1 WR and a pass-blocking line to go along with Clayton at #2 WR. S-Jax will peobably be over the hill in two years, so they probably need to replace him as wll...but I'm with you on Bradford's potential...kind of depends on his coaching staff as well. Will he luck into a Martz/Sean Payton/etc type coach? Who is their current o-cord and do you see him sticking around?

I had the same original thoughts and have made the same adjustments. Very impressed and Rams fans have to be thrilled that he is the future of the franchise.

You think it will take 4 seasons for him to reach top 10 status? OK....

Love Bradford, but he has a long way to go.

QB19 in a few of my leagues at the moment.

Pat shurmur...former Eagles qb coach. I cant honestly tell you what I think of him yet considering, again, he has nothing to work with. But, so far this season im very impressed with what is going on. I know he and Spags both came into the league in 1999 with the eagles... whoever is a friend of Spags is a friend of mine... :kicksrock:

No surprise here. Dude is an amazing athelete and about as smart as they come.

He is a scratch golfer. I cannot strees this enough how much this translate into the NFL game. It's the mental edge. You cannot be that good at golf without a good mentality.

We all knew he had the physical abilities but a lot of NFL prospects have that. Book smarts, street smarts, mental toughness, being able to overcome adversity...I could go on and on. Bradford has it and that is why he will succeed.

Just like Peyton Manning there are bigger arms out there but nobody can match his mental toughness. I think that's why he's getting so many comparisons to Manning.

Keep slinging it Sammy!!

i wouldnt go that far...id say corner is a weak point other than bartell...and i think bartell is a little overrated cause hes the only decent guy they have. It goes:1. WR- hopefully AJ Green,Greg little or Julio Jones.2. CB - maybe Prince Amukamara, Ras I dowling or Patrick peterson3. SS - Dahl isn't cutting it IMO 4. RB - I wouldnt wanna use a high pick here(1st to 3rd)because i think sjax is still in his prime. But, a nice scat back that could take 8-13 carries a game to lighten the load on sjax would be nice.I really dont see DE as a weakness considering how Chris long is developing... He seems to finally be growing into himself and is starting to make plays.

:blackdot: Pretty sure that's about where he is in every league that penalizes 2 points for turnovers. He needs to average about 4 more points per game (100 yards or a full TD) to get into the top ten, so I don't see it happening this year. That said, he is much more impressive this year than Freeman or Stafford were a year ago. Hard to judge him against the rookie years of Flacco, Ryan or Sanchez as they had more talent around them. He'll be top ten within a year or two. The 2014 prediction seems way off...but I could see it taking that long to get to elite status (consistent top 3ish-5ish). It took Drew Brees three years as a starter to get into the top ten, five before he was top five, seven before he was #1.

I've been reminding people he's a rookie on a bad team. He also a below-average OL & receiving corps. Not a good recipe for FF success.

That said, Bradford is nothing short of incredible (for a rookie). His stats don't do him justice. I do have faith in Spagnuolo being smart enough to build around him, though. NFL franchises can turn around quickly. You would be surprised what a top-notch WR & a couple of OL would do for that team.

I do expect Bradford to be a FF stud as soon as 2011, but it's probably asking too much of him to be a top-10 QB this season considering the lack of support. One way I could see it is if the Rams start letting him wing it 40-50 times a game, which is a possibility (especially if Jackson's injury lingers).

In the not too distant future, that's exactly what you're going to see, though (40-50 passes a game). The NFL is a passer's game & the Rams have a guy that can pass his way to wins. This kid is going to be fun to watch.

Hes ranked QB20 in my league. He looks good for a rookie but hes nothing more than an average QB2
After three weeks that's true. But I think he has some very promising matchups and the talent and potential to become a more reliable QB2. When you get past the Top 15 or so and start looking at QBs like Hasselbeck, Freeman, Stafford (when healthy), Sanchez, Alex Smith etc. I think Bradford has more upside than all of them except for Sanchez and maybe Stafford. I could see Bradford being better than Stafford (whenever he returns) because I think he's a more talented QB. He just lacks the stud talent at WR than Stafford has to work with.

Seems like Bradford is progressing a lot quicker than Stafford did last year, and doing so without a #1 WR.
This. Bradford is the best new QB the league has seen in a long time.

I'd be happy with him too but even a team as bad as the Rams won't have a top 10 QB.

When teams start taking the Rams seriously he will suffer.

Do you think the Cardinals, Raiders and Redskins weren't taking him seriously when he almost beat two of those teams and beat the third? He's handled some pretty difficult circumstances so far. He was asked to air it out a ton in Week 1 and almost pulled off the win. He went to the Black Hole in Week 2 and wasn't rattled and he faced a veteran defensive coordinator in Week 3 and stared that challenge down and won the game.

I am not sure why everyone always says the Rams o-line is so bad. They are heavily invested in this oline and this is a group that is just getting used to play with each other. I heard Saffold on the radio today and the person doing the interview mentioned that this is the first time in over 2 years the Rams started the same 5 guys 3 games in a row. They have two high draft picks at tackles and two free agents they paid top dollar for at center and guard. I am not saying it's the best oline in the league but the talent is there. They just need to gel.

St.L has a very good oline. I don't know why people think it's so bad either. I think people are greatly exaggerating how poor a situation St.L was to walk into. They need a playmaker at WR but otherwise they have a great nucleus on offense.

Oh, please. Yesterday was their first win at home in 15 games! There might be promise but it's certainly a poor situation right now.

OK let's talk fantasy. I drafted Kolb and I'm looking at starting Bradford in week 4 (my 4th different starting QB this year). From what I've heard he's a high character guy and I would have to agree that the sky is the limit for him. Not a top 10 qb this year but I hope to pick a few good matchups and could see him getting more productive as the season goes on.

Glad to hear the St. Louie homers reassure me about the O-line.

No, but not because of lack of talent. I think Bradford is the real deal but I really can't see him crack the top 10 with the current group of receivers that he has. If the Rams had gone out and got him some help before the season began, it was a possibility but probably not this year. With a nice draft and a few FA pickups, I have no doubt that he is top 10 next season.

 The O line is one of the Rams' strengths. Right now we need a #1 receiver, a quick OLB, a strong safety, and a RB to take the load off Jackson. With a good draft and an aggressive move or two in free agency, the Rams could be looking at .500 or better in 2011.

I disagree, but the OL does have some potential. I still would call this unit below-average right now & I hope they don't think they can stand pat on not improve it. They don't need to revamp the OL, but it still could use some upgrading, IMO.

I have been saying for months that he was super special and have been enjoying this so much. It's been so fascinating to read the usual rookie comments from people and the usual doubt for the Rams and just watch it all unfold. I don't think I have ever seen a player add so many fans per week like this. There probably has been but I can't think of one now.The wonderful thing is that the offseason is going to "lock up" these fans for life because he is also a rare kind and generous individual. Jersey to a kid, donate to some less fortunate...the guy was doing that stuff in college! He's an Indian that has witnessed struggles and heard stories of the less fortunate and soooo understands the privilege he has.

Not yet but if he lights up the Seahawks this week as I suspect he could I may splurge.

The Rams o-line has allowed 14 QB hits, ranked 16th in the league. 6 sacks, ranked 17th in the league while Bradford has attempted 119 passes which is the 8th most for the season.

Average? Probably. Horrible, not even close.

Considering age, Rodgers is the only QB in the league I would take over Bradford right now.
What does this even mean? QB's regularly have 15+ year careers. It's not like a RB where you need to get in early before he hits his prime 2-4 year stretch. Bradford's played three games, and while I agree that he's likely to be very good even based upon this limited stuff, this is typical overreaction. You wouldn't take Rivers or Roethlisberger over him, just as two examples? I see your handle so I understand your excitement - I mean that. I'm a Redskins fan and I'd love to have Bradford rather than the parade of past-their-prime veterans and not-so-good youngsters we've had over the last 20 years, but the hyperbole is silly.

Roethlisberger and Rivers over Bradford ? Not a chance. Short term, of coarse. But, the Rams aren't going to be good for a couple more years, so why take somebody short term ? Bradford will be MUCH better than Rivers. I like Ben a lot, but he has too much baggage. I will stand by my opinion of only taking Rodgers over Bradford considering age and ability of all the QB's in the league.

How long until you think St.L is good? I'm no Rams fan but personally I think they aren't far away at all. They've got a great young oline, a franchise caliber RB and a promising young QB. That is a hell of a starting point. There a a few glaring holes but those could be filled in a years time. Playmaking WR, better rushing end, more athletic LBs and some secondary help. It's not like they are playing in the AFC East here. They have a rather weak division. A turn around could be rapid.

 I have to agree, its gonna be AT LEAST two years before Bradford can be elite. i would still take manning brees rodgers rivers brady over him. hes in the next tier with cutler romo flacco ryan right now IMO. But as I have said non fantasy wise I would say hes above all of those guys i just put him in a tier with. but you gotta earn it to get into that first tier and it takes two good or great years to get up there. If i was starting a franchise today Qb order would go 1.Manning 2.Brady3.Brees 4.Rodgers 5.Rivers and then Bradford.

Wiscstlatlmia - Pre-season I bet some over/unders on wins and the Rams were one team I bet on.

Over/Under 5 - I took the over.

I figured 5 was a layup and that got me at least a push.

What's your homer guess at this point?

They really have a cupcake schedule.

you definitely have to take the schedule into account....they literally play no one the whole year now that the 49ers are in the dump. But honestly this rams team just isn't very talented...on either side of the ball. i think they could squeeze out a few wins on the backs of Sjax and Bradford. Spags seems to be doing a tremendous job with the defense considering what he has to work with. all in all I think that's a very even bet. but in my honest opinion i see around 4-6 wins this year depending on how the defense holds up.
