That may be what's emerging here. Two games is clearly a very small sample size but here are the comparisons between Dillon last season and Morris so far this season:

Corey Dillon

12.4 rushing attempts per game

0.94 receptions per game

13.34 total touches per game

0.81 TDs per game

Sammy Morris

10.5 rushing attempts per game

1 reception per game

11.5 total touches per game

.50 TDs per game

There isn't a huge disparity here. The big difference so far is Dillon was the No. 1 TD guy at RB last season and so far we don't know who has that role for the Patriots. It could be Morris, it could be Maroney or it could even be Evans. That Maroney came out at the 1 last night and Morris came in even after Maroney was tearing up the Chargers was quite interesting, though, in my opinion.

I'd call him more of a dillon lite, but yeah he's going to be used in a very similar role.

what you saw in the first 2 games is what you'll be seeing all year.

So glad I avoided 2nd year RBs this year. May have had a miss on Addai if I was ever in a position to draft him, but I sure as hell am not regretting Maroney, Bush, MJD, etc.

In this offense, a RB getting 10-15 touches a game should have value. If Morris continues to get that number of touches and assumes the goal-line role he could emerge as a viable RB3. Best-case scenario is he becomes this year's Marion Barber.

Morris' play catching ability is underrated. In 12-14 PPR leagues he is a good bye week replacement. Should Maroney miss any time, Morris has very good value which can't be said of most back-up RBs in the NFL.
