San Antonio - what to do with family? (1 Viewer)

Ended up with chain Tex-mex.  The boys were getting hungry.  Matuski I did drive be a WalkOns resturaunts.  It started in Baton Rouge.  While not the best Cajun food it is a good alternative.  I highly recommend the Cajundilla.
Hope you are having a blast.  We do a staycation there every year.

If the chain was Lupe Tortilla (not far from JW), you came out alright.

Gracias.  Going to hit it up for breakfast.  Anywhere off grounds you recommend for BBQ?
From where you are you could actually hit salt lick if you felt like driving.  Kind of jumped the shark these days, but an iconic TX BBQ experience.  Take the back road route.. see the Hill Country.

Two Brothers also good, closer than salt lick.  Not the same experience, but good BBQ.

If going downtown at all check out the Pearl District.. our attempt at Austin.  We did alright here.

People seem to like the River Walk, it is a tourist trap but still worth experiencing.  Some good restaurants and margaritas all over.

eta - or just hit Austin for a day.

And another plug for Gristmill in Gruene.  A weekend ritual when we have time.  Make sure you have a water view... inside if too hot.

The bats can be disappointing. Sometimes they come out after dusk and you can’t see much.

Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio has a nice pool and lazy river. Lots of activities for kids. I know you mentioned you have Mariott points though.

K1 Speed go carts can be fun for everyone. In San Antonio and Austin.

Guenther House brunch in San Antonio is good.

Pearl is quite strong. Ended up taking a bunch of folks from out of state there a couple months ago when we were at a national conference on the River Walk.

@rajincajinI'd offer to come buy you a drink right now but i'm already hammered.
I would have brought you the beverage of your choice.

Had a blast at the JW.  Huge place with tons to do.  I think this will be annual thing for us also.  The lazy river, slides, pools, etc were great.  The only thing that sucked was the parking.  I may Valet next time.

We had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool right near the entrance.
