no, it's know for having stuffed pizza
Even if that's what he meant, no, it's not what they're "known for".
wrong http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-sba...ed-pizza-i55065
1. Stuffed pizza <> "double decker pizza"2. Offering it <> being "known for" it
WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?????
About whether Sbarro is "known for" it's "double decker pizzas". Try to keep up here.
dude you could chill out a bit in here because you are being a real ****.
I agree with this guy.
WHAT DID I DO?

You know, it's been 15 years since I had a slice. I bet since then they have changed their business model from double decker pizza slices to actual stuffed pizza. Cars changed in 15 years. TVs have evolved, fax machines are advanced....things change.

Never tired the pizzas, regular, stuffed, double-deckered or otherwise.

But I did try a stromboli. It was ok. 6.5/10

Voted no.

Boy, it's been YEARS....I mean YEARS...since I had a delicious slice of Sbarro's pie. Brings back fond memories of working at The Gap in a Jackson, Mississippi mall. I would take my lunch break and my 4 dollars, run down to Sbarro and get one of those enormous pizza slices which, if memory serves correct, was like two pieces of pizza facing each other like two lovers on the dance floor. Almost like a pizza sandwich. Those were the days. Carefree living, grunge music dominating the airwaves, denim mini-skirts rampant and double decker pieces of hot, doughy, cheesy, meaty, goodness.
Idea for a certain eat-off thread? :pics:

I would go back to Jackson just for the food. 2 Sisters was incredible. I also miss Que Serra and George Street Grocery. Jackson did food right.
I always remember George Street Grocery as where everyone went out drinking on the weekends. Yeah there was definitely good food, one of the best parts of living in the South.

I had forgotten Cherokee. I was never a Hal & Mals fan. We used to do our recruiting parties for the college grads there. Basically a drunk fest where half the people tore out of there totally lit. It's a miracle nobody ended up dead afterward.

Simple question, which appears in the Topic Description field. I have also included it in both the Poll Title and Poll Content fields for your reference.Define "known for" however you see fit. Same with "double decker pizza".
It is known for being a mediocre pizza chain in malls.

So you're sticking with your story that is was actually 2 slices of pizza on top of each other and not a stuffed pizza?

I do business with one of the Sbarro sons ..... talked about the food / resturant business a lot.

even he recognizes that the quality of food varies greatly from location.... and its not accidental.

...PS -- known for stuffed pizza

That's what it was 15 years ago in Jackson, Mississippi. My memory is flawless, Judd.

Sorry GM, but I'm going with the lake shaver here.

I run the Sbarro at Charlotte airport and have for 10 years. They have only had the stuffed pizza- nothing called a "double decker". I think quality varies alot because they grew too quickly. When it's run correctly, the pizza is pretty good, but most of the time the franchisees sacrifice the quality for the dollar. Not to mention that it takes some skill from the cooks, which is difficult to find in airport hiring environments.

Michael Scott's favorite New York pizza place.
:football: "Great places to eat. We have Bubba Gump Shrimp, Red Lobster down there. You know. This is, this is the heart of civilization right here."

"Right here is my favorite New York pizza joint. And I'm gonna go get me a New York slice. (walks toward Sbarro)"

Sbarro is known for being the place holding down the corner of the food court between the Radio Shack and the Chinese restaurant with the Vietnamese guy standing out front handing out little pieces of sesame chicken bribery on a toothpick to passersby while keeping an eye out for possible INS agents.

I know it as barely edible mall food.
:goodposting: That along with Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Godfathers, whatever the #### is in your town. their all god awful. The only chain pizza place I'll give my dollars to is Rosati's and even thats a rough undertaking. As to the OP, never even heard of double decker pizza, and I'm in Chicago.

Sbarro....best evah!Growing up in Dallas (Prestonwood Mall and Valley View), that was the best pizza around. Sure, we had Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn, and Little Caesars Pizza but I thought they didn't use enough tomato sauce.BTW, anyone from North Dallas still remember the Little Caesars Pizza along with Zak's and the Hot Dog House in the same plaza as Skaggs, where the old Handy Dan's used to be?
Oh man, those were your choices? Sbarro's is pretty solid pizza for a grab n' go mall joint but when it's considered the big player on the block that's just sad.

Not sure I can trust you on this, seeing how you think stuffed pizza is just one pie upside down on another.
