the goodfellas thread reminded me of a question ive always had about the movie scarface. idurinh the scene after frank has turned on tony, then tony goes to lopez motors with mannie and and the other cuban guy. tony shoots the detective,in the stomach and the guy says, "you can't shoot a cop!"

then tony says, "whoever said you was one?"

cop then starts panicking.

tony already knew the guy was a cop because he was paying him hush money, so what's the deal in this scene.
