My 10yo son wants to watch something scary. Anyone have a recommendation for something that'd be appropriate for him. PG-13 stuff is ok. Thx

My parents put me in front of the Exorcist when I was around that age. Scared the #### out of me, but my ball hair grew in thicker as a result.

man, i remember watching nightmare on elm street about that age....to this day i still don't watch scary movies.

Last year at Halloween, my then 10yo son and I started watching some of the classic horror films (I think it was AMC doing nightly movies). I'm talking classics like Karloff, Lugosi, black and white. Scary, but not blood and guts , scar them for life scary. My son loved them.

Quick scan of Netflix:

Black Sabbath (Karloff)

White Zombie (Lugosi)

The Fly (Price)

Scared the #### out of my stepson with The Birds around that age. Extra fun because he was  at the start because it was black & white.

Maybe an old school monster movie? They're not scary. The Creature of the Black Lagoon, Them!, The Forbidden Planet, Rodan, The Incredible Shrinking Man. All are good fun.

Monster House. Yeah it's animated but it is a good movie with a good story and it has some very intense parts for the younger set. Think of it as the darker side of Up.

If your kid can handle something a little more mature but with a wicked bit of humor I'll throw out a newer movie called Housebound. Some nice twists and turns and you will have to explain whats going on at certain points but it is fun.

Dr. Who series - watch the episode "Blink" as that can stand alone (if like it then can go back and watch whole series - perfect to watch as adult and 10 year old)

Those Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer movies are really not very scary and have an overabundance of hot 20 somethings tarting it up and pretending they're high schoolers.
