Just reported on NFL Network, Meachum and Royal are out tonight. Does SD shift to the run game against KC tonight? Would they have game planned to pass much on KC prior to this news?

Wondering what effect this could have on Floyd, Gates, Rivers.

Rotoworld:

Robert Meachem (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (hamstring) are inactive for Thursday night's Week 9 game against the Chiefs.

With Meachem and Royal out, recently signed receivers Danario Alexander and Seyi Ajirotutu will see heavy playing time opposite Malcom Floyd.

Should be interesting to see what Danario can do......if his knees can hold up or not. Could be a nice preemptive add in deeeeep leagues.

Floyd becomes a must start, doesn't he??? Somebody has to get catches
I'd like to know as I have Stevie J in my flex and MFloyd on my bench.I played Tutu some years back one Sunday (when someone was hurt) and was rewarded handsomely!

I went with Floyd over Johnson just now in my flex. It is a tough call, but as it was mentioned before someone has to get the targets and with just Gates and Floyd as the only regular starters I think his targets at least get an upgrade.

Deep breath. I changed my flex as well. That's three in tonight's game then for me. Floyd, Charles and SD D. SINK OR SWIM!

Same decision here with Stevie and Floyd. I want to start Floyd this week but I've already got Matthews and Gates. Hate to have 3 Chargers going so I'm probably starting Stevie, but I'd go Floyd if I wasn't already heavily invested in SD.

I wrote this about DA in the other thread..

Okay guys, I'm not starting him this week/tonight but I'm very intrigued. DA is a talent with no real knees to speak of. As long as he's healthy though, he can make things happen. I was hoping he was going to be going up against Rout this week, as he's the weaker of the KC corners but Floyd usually lines up on his side of the field. DA will probably line up on Brandon Flowers' side. Maybe KC will switch but I'm not familiar enough with their defense to know if that's a possibility.

Remember his first game with STL last year? 3/122/1? I can honestly see this happening again. Gaither is playing, so Rivers should remain upright for some deep throws.

This is a nice match up, but something to keep in mind is that KC is coming off a short week, where DMC literally tired the crap out of them with 33 touches on the ball. I've noticed defenses, especially rush defenses have been getting beaten up on Thursday nights. SD may will probably go run heavy again to start of the game (14 of first 20 offensive snaps were run plays last week), hopefully it will open up the passing game so Rivers can take a few shots. KC has given up a league most 7 plays of 40+ yards.

I very much like Floyd tonight if they are planning on double teaming Gates and he's covered by Rout. DA is a high risk/reward play, Mathews is going to drop a 30 burger and I'm a bit worried about Gates.

Alexander looked pretty good tonight and is a definite upgrade over Meacham. He is someone to keep an eye on because right now teams are focusing heavily on stopping Gates and to a lesser degree Floyd. With a pretty juicy matchup against TB next week Alexander could have some value, however I'm not sure if the Chargers will be dumb and put Meacham back in at starter. Meacham is useless as a starter but the Chargers invested so much in him that they might be hesitant to demote him.
