I mostly agree with this. If someone is buying into him as the next star, dump him. Some folk think he's going to be Crawford-lite. That's crazy. If you find that owner, move him ASAP. If your league is full of folk who know he's going to crash hard and crash soon, you might as well ride out this insanse bit of production.Austin Jackson and his .500+ BABIP
I have him in a keeper league and Im floating him out there for Chone Figgins.I think Jackson will be a good ML hitter (hes hit .300 at almost every level) but I doubt hell ever develop more than 15 HR power especially in DET and I dont think he's a 20 SB guy. I think hes a Denard Span type (good ML hitter, lower end fantasy OFer).I mostly agree with this. If someone is buying into him as the next star, dump him. Soriano, sure. He has a history of having studly weeks and disappearing.I wouldn't be so quick to sell Kelly Johnson, though, for the same reasons I grabbed him in a few leagues before the season started. He's not going to hit 40 HRs, obviously, but it wasn't too long ago that some people thought he could be a Chase Utley type of hitter at second base. He was very highly regarded coming up with the Braves. In 2007 and 2008, he was a top 10 2B in my points league, so having success isn't an outlier for him... his 2009 struggles were the exception, not the rule, because the Braves encouraged him to be more aggressive instead of being a patient hitter like he had been. He's 28, moved to one of the best ballparks in baseball for left handed hitters, and is batting leadoff for a loaded lineup. He's probably not going to be quite this good all year, but I don't see much of a reason to think he won't be a well above average option.the moops said:Kelly JohnsonAlfonso SorianoProbably the top 2 guys. Maybe Jones or Konerko from the WSox if you can find a buyer. Also, I'm being offered a TON for U.Jiminez right now so it might be a great time to get max value for him.
If he comes down to well above average, but you can sell him as an extra super special player, then that is exactly selling high.Guys dont have to tank in order for you to get value from selling high.Soriano, sure. I guess.... but do you really think people are going to give up Utley/Kinsler-type value for him?I have him, and because I have both he and Rickie Weeks (another favorite upside play of mine in points leagues) in both leagues, I've shopped him. No one really expects him to be a super-stud all year, and if you don't get that kind of value for him, I don't think that'd be selling him "high." More like "selling him exactly where he should be sold."If he comes down to well above average, but you can sell him as an extra super special player, then that is exactly selling high.Guys dont have to tank in order for you to get value from selling high.Soriano, sure. Agreed with Steelers4Life about Kelly Johnson. I have him and I'm not selling him because I'm not being offered a top 50 bat price, I'm being offered good but not great 2B prices, which is what he probably will be.
You and I have different definitions of sell high, I consider sell high's players that actually have a market that constitutes selling high. Amongst a sampling of 33 other owners in the three leagues I own Johnson in, none are offering more than that of a #8(ish) 2B.Agreed with Steelers4Life about Kelly Johnson. I have him and I'm not selling him because I'm not being offered a top 50 bat price, I'm being offered good but not great 2B prices, which is what he probably will be.Sounds like you agree with me in that you are trying to sell high because you dont think he will maintain his current pace. Just because nobody is biting doesn't negate the fact that Johnson is the perfect player to try and sell high.
Jered Weaver? You think he's crashing down to earth? I was leary of keeping him in an AL only league this offsesason, worried about him being the ace of the staff. But he has proven me wrong so far, turned me into a believer.MAC_32 said:I had hoped to find a buyer for Jered Weaver, but...no dice.

Check out his splits, he's Dan Haren lite. He's a good pitcher, but he's not great and I don't need him on that team as I have Lince K and Hamels as anchors, just traded (Brian Wilson) for Verlander, and may have struck gold with Jamie Garcia and Colby Lewis. Basically, as long as injuries and Kevin Slowey don't kill me my pitching is set so I tried using Weaver to upgrade a bat but I didn't get any good offers.Jered Weaver? My next door neighbor just told me his cousin is Vernon Wells' wife. He said he talked to Wells in the offseason and Wells told him he had a wrist injury the last few years but feels great this yr and is fully healthy. I wish he told me this before the season. Take it for what its worth.Pnishthm said:Vernon Wells. I've seen Aprils like this from himbefore.
but he did hit 23 HRs back in 2004...
Listen gb, I'm getting my pitch ready for when I try to flip him for Andrus.but he did hit 23 HRs back in 2004...![]()
Wells has only had one April like this before, back in 2006. He finished that season hitting .303 with 32 HR and 106 RBI.That's also supposedly the last time his wrist wasn't bothering him as shady mentioned. There isn't much faith in him out there after the last 3 years. His potential production is a lot higher than what you could get for him in trade IMO.Pnishthm said:Vernon Wells. I've seen Aprils like this from himbefore.
