Selvin Young (1 Viewer)

as a young owner who had a decision to make this week on whether to keep him, he made it easy. the broncos showed what their plans will be if henry is gone - young will be the main man.

most impressive was his usage in the passing game. the screen was a nice weapon for denver.

boy wouldn't it be nice if Henry wasn't able to play this week vs. Detroit and then was suspended as expected.......

I have both Henry and Young....I want just Young...Henry can't get suspended quick enough

I was pretty impressed with him. He ran hard and he exploded down the sidelines on the long run that was called back. Plus he was very involved in the passing game so in PPR leagues he looks like he'll have some nice value as the starter when Henry is suspended. He also dominated the carries so based on tonight's game it's unlikely there will be the rumored rotation with him and Hall that has been speculated.

The concern I have is he's not a big guy and watching him take a pounding reminded me of Tatum Bell last season. Bell had some real good games early on as the starter but got hurt and wore down. Will the same thing happen to Young? As a Young owner I hope not but I can't lie - that's the thought I had in my head watching him tonight. Shanahan will run his starter into the ground so I worry about Young being able to hold up.

Own both in my PPR league. Young scored 17 pts in this game which more then i got in any week from Henry. Hope he's out again this week and suspended soon

Glad I dropped him last week for Lee Evans  ...well, I guess it could be worse. I woulda never started him anyway.

IMO, he did look pretty damn good tonite and I agree that it looks like DEN will involve him more in the passing game than Travis Herbivore.

The biggest thing I regret, and always regret when dropping a player, is that someone with a good team gets him. *(*@&$(*@&$$@)$*

I really hate The Rat.Young fails on ONE carry inside the 5, and now he'll evidently never get another one.
his carry at the goalline was blown up by a lineman....Young could have done nothing. and Young didn't come out at the goalline unless he was winded
There were at least three plays by my count from inside the 3 when either Hall or Sapp was the lone back. I have the game Tivo'd. I'm going to have to go back and see if those plays came immediately after a run by Young which would have "winded" him.

not really...Signed..Henry not Young owner...

Best play of the night was when Young took a hand off and darted 50 yards down the sidelines and almost scoring! He did a nice job zipping by defenders and showing off his speed. But then the refs decided there was a bogus holding call that never actually happened.

And was anyone overly impressed with Andre Hall? I know he only carried the ball a few times, but I was not overly impressed. Once someone tried to tackle him, he immediately went down.

Hoping maybe to see him next weekend against the Lions to see how fast he is on turf. :scared:

If Henry is back this week, does he get the start? I would guess an unfortunate yes.
I don't see any reason why he wouldn't. It's not like he was playing poorly before getting hurt. He has done nothing to lose the starting job as long as he's able to play in my opinion.I do think Young showed enough last night, though, to warrant more involvement in the passing game. He'd already been getting a lot of the third-down snaps but maybe going forward they'll continue throwing to him more.

Seems like it was mixed near the goal line. But I would think him being in the game and getting the carry from the 12 toward the end of regulation could mean something. (as a hopeful, but realistic Young owner). He did look shaken up on that play, I was hoping the Broncos would get the ball in OT to see what happened. All I could find after the game:

From the Denver Post:

He (Henry) was replaced in the starting lineup by Selvin Young, who rushed for 71 yards on 18 carries and made a team-high six catches for 49 yards.

"I've got to look at the film, but I thought he did a very good job for his first game," said Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.

Wow, I don't know which Travis Henry you have been watching lately. Before the story broke about him being tested positive for pot, he was leading the league in rushing. Ever since then, he has been COMPLETELY shut down and has not had a game over 80 yards rushing. I would say Young is the way to go. They saw what he can do last night against a VERY GOOD Packers run defense.

Henry faced two standout run defenses in his last two games - SD and Pittsburgh. It wasn't a surprise that he was shut down by them. I'm a Young owner so I'd love to see him start next week but if Henry is ready to play I fully expect him to be the starter until his suspension kicks in.

Agree 100%They invested some nice coin in Henry, and I'm sure they are gonna use him up for as long as they can. That is the Shanny way after all!
