Can someone explain to me what will be required to place a player on IR. Ruled out on the injury report? No Schtick, in 22 years of this, never played in a league where you had an IR spot in football. Just another example of the wussification of merica' :cool:
I think in yahoo, the players needs to be listed as Out on the injury report.

 
I'd like to set a co-commish in case I'm unavailable for any issues

looks like they have to be on IR, so probably not a ton of benefit...oh well, I'm sure we can all manage to field full rosters still

Injured Reserve (IR) rules in Fantasy Football


The IR position is primarily used for keeper leagues, because in the NFL, if a player is placed on injured reserve, he most likely will be deactivated for the season and not eligible to return (see note). As a result, that player would have no fantasy value for the current season.

Please note:

  • Managers can add a player to an IR roster spot only if the player has IR status, and only if your league uses the IR as a roster position.
  • Timing: Players will be made eligible for the IR position in Fantasy Football as soon as possible after they are placed there in real life. Please note that this may not occur until the morning following the transaction, during our nightly system update, although we strive to change their status sooner than that. Players with NA (Not Active) or PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) status cannot be used in an IR spot.
  • The IR roster spot itself is not visible on a manager's team, unless the league uses the IR roster position and until the manager moves a player with the IR status to their IR roster spot.
  • To view the roster configuration used in your league, click League tab | Scoring & Settings.
Prior to the draft, a commissioner can enable the IR position. Here's how:

  1. Log-in to the Yahoo Fantasy Football home page.
  2. Click the Commish Tools tab.
  3. In the "League Management" section, click Edit Roster Positions.
  4. At the bottom of the page under "Inactive," you can add up to five Injured Reserved (IR) positions.
  5. Click Submit.
Adding a player to your Fantasy team's IR

If you use the "Classic" version, click the down arrow next to the players name and choose IR.

If you use the "Drag and Drop Roster," the IR roster spot is not visible until you've left-clicked on a player and have started to drag the player to a new roster spot. Once you've moved a player to the IR position (and keep a player in that position), you will continue to see the IR roster spot display on your team page.

Note: Yahoo Sports requires a player to be on the real-life IR in order to qualify for IR eligibility in the fantasy game.

Activating a player from the IR

The NFL recently reached agreement with the Players Association to allow one player per season to be activated from the Injured Reserve list.

In order to activate a player from your Fantasy IR, your roster must have an opening for an active player. You will need to drop a player from your roster in order to make room to activate a player.

The exception to this would be if you have another player on your roster eligible for the IR. If that is the case, you may move the player currently on your Fantasy IR to an active roster position and replace him with another player eligible for the IR.

Note: Once on the IR, a player may stay there for the entire season, even if they return to real-life action. However, once a player comes off the real-life IR, you will not be able to complete any transactions that involve adding a player to your team until you remove them from your team's IR.

Yeah, i think finishing out this draft will be tricky. How is this solution. I think we keep going as usual, and if we are at a point like this tonight we say at 8:00 EST we have a free for all to finish out the draft. You come in and post your pick and if that person is not on a team then he is your 15th round pick. If he is you have to wait a day to pick again. And it goes in order of posting your pick, so if i go to make a play i should look at posts above to make sure that guy hasn't been taken recently. I agree with AB that it looks to be a lot of defenses and kickers going, so it makes sense to play it out this way to finish this draft up
