Send the runners or not?

Became a "debate" to avoid the force out/DP or "don't make the 3rd out at 3rd.

Let's say he's Chase Utley.

If it's Utley, I'd start the runners. If it's the other guy described, I'd probably start them as well. I'd want a contact hitter who isn't going to strikeout a lot in that situation to avoid the strikeout/throwout double play.

That's why you're not a manager. If Utley is at the plate, you most certainly DON'T send the runners.1. Utley has enough speed to beat most DP attempts, AND2. Ryan Howard, one of the games best RBI men is on deck.More things can go wrong by sending the runners, then by having them hold.

I can't believe I forgot to tell you this, but when I was at the Detroit/Twins game at Comerica these two drunken morons next to me spent a good 10 minutes talking about how Inge has "great team spirit" and "really gets the team going with his energy" and other Ecksteinian comments.
