Shark Pool Mock Draft 2011 - 4 Rounds (1 Viewer)

Enough wait is enough right?

I know this would mean Oakland went with a corner again - with the losing Nnamdi though it might be reason to rebuild - anyone against a pick of Davon House, CB, New Mexico State?

This is a speed guy whom many have ranked in the 2nd to 3rd round so it would be great value and hand them depth at the position.

Oakland and Jacksonville have went... we are waiting for the 49ers.

OK, I'm aorry for the confusion - :loco: - I blame the fact that I painted the house standing in the sun for 10 hours yesterday

There might still be enough wait - why not impose the pick of House on Frisco? They need a corner to strengthen their secondary and in my mind House is the most promising corner prospect out there.Do we agree and get this moving along?

Tampa Bay selects Greg Romeus - DE - Pittsburg

Projected 1st rounder before he decided to come back for his senior year. Injuries have him slipping in the draft... Bucs need more than one end from this draft and the risk/reward looks good here.

The New York Football Giants select K.J. Wright, LB, Mississippi State

I was debating between picking OT Jason Pinkston (whom I think would be used at guard by the Giants) and OLB K.J. Wright.

Pinkston would be a solid addition. His knee issues are somewhat of a red flag but if the Giants aren't completely scared off he would make for a great replacement player for Rich Seubert who's been injured a lot lately. However, with the Giants already picking Carimi in the first they might be able to kick either him or Diehl inside and solve their starting guard issues.

Wright seem to be a player that fit the Giants base defense well as a SLB. He would meet a need for sure. However, I'm not overly sold on him as far as athleticism go even though he would be a good value pick here. Seems o be a better player in-game than what tests show for. The Giants need a replacement player for Keith Bulluck who isn't getting better with age.

In the end Wright is the best pick here.

I'm interested in this guy. Thought about taking him with the Vikings' 4th rounder.

Kansas City Chiefs select DE/OLB Jeremy Beal from Oklahoma.

I know he had a terrible combine, but you can't deny multiple years of production at OU.

After the draft I was thinking I was able to get some pretty good value in this mock for the Bills. Here is where I was able to get guys compared to where they went in the real draft. Looks like NFL teams liked these guys a little better than we did.

Round 1

1.3 - Buffalo Bills - Cam Newton (QB, Auburn)

(1.1 - Panthers)

Round 2

2.2 - Buffalo Bills - Cameron Heyward (DE, Ohio State)

(1.31 - Steelers)

Round 3

3.4 - Buffalo Bills - Bruce Carter (LB, North Carolina)

(2.8 - Cowboys)

Round 4

4.3 - Buffalo Bills -
John Moffitt (OG, WIsconsin)

(3.11 - Seahawks)

I loved the Bills draft. Especially because they got the best guy in the draft with Dareus. But I wouldn't have minded if they were able to get some of this value in the real draft. I just got lucky with a couple guys like Bruce Carter and John Moffit slipping further than they should've.

Anyone else get really good value with thier picks?

Like this idea, here's mine:1.01 - AJ Green (1.04 Bengals)

3.01 - Drake Nevis (3.23 Colts)

3.33 - Johnny Patrick (3.24 Saints)

4.01 - Virgil Green (7.01 Broncos)

Didn't get the 'value' you did but I'm still fine with the picks I made.

Mixture of good and bad picks for me, but I was pretty on:

1.8 - Nick Fairley (actual pick 1.13 to Detroit) Pretty much right on with his value here. He would not have lasted to 13 except for the QB run in the early part of the round

2.5 - Jonathan Baldwin (actual pick 1.26 to KC) Great value, as getting a late first rounder in the early second

3.6 - Sam Acho (actual pick 4.6 to ARI) Took him a round too early - was too concerned with getting a DE

3.13 - Orlando Franklin (actual pick 2.14 to DEN) GREAT value here - mid 2nd round value in the mid-3rd

4.5 - Casey Matthews (actual pick 4.19 to PHI) Pretty much right on his actual pick

Wish it would have ended up like this, with Cleveland getting 2 firsts, 1 second, and 2 fourths in the first 4 rounds. :)

(Actually, Cleveland did better...2 firsts (2011 #21 and 2012 from ATL), 2 seconds, no 3rd, and 2 fourths. So they actually beat my job with getting an extra 2nd)

I think I did pretty well. Tampa did draft 2 DEs, a LB and a RB.

1-20.Tampa Bay Buccaneers(Kirby) - Ryan Kerrigan (DE, Purdue)

Real pick was Adrian Clayborn. Right position, and Kerrigan was already off the board.

2-19.Tampa Bay Buccaneers(Kirby) - Martez Wilson (LB, Illinois)

Real pick was Da'Quan Bowers. Got their LB in the 3rd and I over valued Wilson by almost a full round.

3-20.Tampa Bay Buccaneers(Kirby) - Jacquizz Rodgers (RB, Oregon St.)

Real pick was Mason Foster. They eventually draft a RB in the 6th... but I was off on the type of back and I over valued Rodgers by 2 rounds.

4-19.Tampa Bay (Kirby) - Greg Romeus (DE, Pittsburgh)

Traded up for Luke Stocker. TB did draft two DE's early but Romeus wasn't drafted until the 7th.

4-4.Cincinnati (Kirby) -
Daniel Thomas (RB, Kansas State)

Real pick was Clint Boling. The Bengals were going to draft Thomas in the 3rd but the Dolphins jumped ahead of them to draft him in round 2.

Looking at Jacksonville, there just aren't that many difference makers on either side of the ball. The team is basically MJD, and Alu Alu was a nice surprise last season.

I wanted to address QB, any position on the defense, and find a playmaking WR.

Looking at the first round, I didn't think there was a ton of value left at QB where I was drafting, I wasn't willing to reach for Kaepernick or Ponder, because we didn't need a QB desperately enough to try and take a first round flier on what amounted to a fairly average QB class. I knew there was going to be some overpaying going on. So I took a player at 1.16 that has a chance to be a playmaker. I suppose I could have gone Kerrigan or Watt, but I feel like Aldon Smith with his athletic ability could really be a menacing pass rusher, and a difference maker on a team that lacks a lot of true impact players. Maybe not safe, but this is kind of a high upside pick that a team needs to find impact players to begin to rebuild a defense. If he develops, you can build around him and showcase him. Smith is versatile enough to play 4-3 end or 3-4 OLB due to his freakish athleticism. (actual pick was Gabbert, who they made a trade up to get. I just don't think it was worth giving up picks to move up this high to get Gabbert, when the team has a ton of holes to address already. Especially given the mediocrity of the QB class.)

The second round left me with some choices. I saw Kaepernick go, which is a player I was considering at 2.17. I didn't feel there was much value at CB at this slot, I had already taken a DL. The lack of playmakers on offense was something that needed to be addressed, especially with MSW essentially failing at football and leaving the team. I had Torrey Smith as the #3 WR on my list, behind only Jones and Green, so I was very happy to be able to address a team need by taking him here. I thought Smith might actually go at the end of round 1 to Atl, or at the beginning of 2 to Cle, Det or StL. MSW wasn't a great locker room guy, nor was Matt Jones and I was glad to see Baldwin go ahead of my slot, because I don't think this team would draft another jackass WR. So to me this was outstanding value. (JAX has no actual 2nd round pick due to the trade to move up for Gabbert)

I selected Ricky Stanzi in round 3. This was probably a round earlier than needed, but I felt there were some nice defensive pieces sliding and I wanted to bring this QB in. He has a lot of leadership intangibles, is very accurate and comes from a pro style offense. He has a good arm and his accuracy has improved. As a 3 year starter in Iowa he's lost only 9 games. I think what i got here was similar upside to dalton or kaepernick but a round later. He will have a couple years to develop behind Garrard, and is joining a veteran laden offense. Again, it's a bit of a reach, but I did address a need with a player I really liked. (Actual pick, William Rackley OL- Lehigh. I didn't even feel this was addressing one of the major needs [which i thought were defense, qb and WR])

Lastly, and probably one of the best picks that I saw in this mock was my 4th rd Jaiquawn Jarrett pick. This player went 54 overall in the Draft (I got him at 114). He's extremely physical, and is known as a very hard hitter. He's a similar player to Brian Dawkins. Another excellent piece to add to a defense that desperately needs difference making players, and this player could make a serious impact very quickly. Excellent value. (Actual 4th round picks were Cecil Shorts, a small school WR I think will just be another underwhelming option at WR, and Chris Prosinski DB out of Wyoming who projects to be a back-up safety option and special teams contributor. Ho hum)
