Shark Pool Mock draft - Version 2 (1 Viewer)

3.81 - Dallas Cowboys: Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt

I had Demario Davis here but didn't realize he was only 230 pounds, too small to play OLB in a 3-4. I'll back up and go with Casey Hayward as he's visited the Cowboys and is projected as a 2-3 rounder, which fits nicely here.

ETA: I was seriously considering Orson Charles here. Our 3rd WR spot is a huge void but so is our backup TE, and a move to a 2 TE system would minimize our need for that 3rd WR. Charles is far and away the best player on the board IMO, but I see a little bit of Marty B in him. His inconsistency at the combine I was willing to overlook, but a DUI right around combine/draft time is just ridiclously stupid.

Love Hayward's ball skills and the way he knocks down backs (reminds me of Winfield). Good fit with Dallas IMO. I think Fleming and Bentley are also good value corners but Hayward fits better with a cover 2 teams.

Really surprised to see Cinci not come away with a RB in the first two rounds although I do like their selections. How do you feel about Pead, Turbin or Rainey here?

ETA:....you read my mind

I gotta say if Dallas trades back in the first and pulls off a draft like this I'd be pretty happy, especially if that extra 2nd rounder netted us Vinny Curry.

I'd love it even more if a trade back could somehow get us Fletcher Cox at 1. Then we'd go oline and pass rush in round 2, and hit up corner in Round 3. All needs would be addressed in this dream scenario.

Though Cox is being rumored as a top 10 talent lately so that's definitely sounding like a dream.

Let's just finish this up for the weekend:

86. Pittsburgh - Audie Cole ILB - North Carolina State

87. Denver - Jamell Fleming CB - Oklahoma

88. Philadelphia (from Houston) - George Iloka FS - Boise State

92. San Francisco - Casey Hayward CB - Vanderbilt

93. New England - Nigel Bradham OLB - Florida State

94. New York Giants - James-Michael Johnson ILB - Nevada

95.c Oakland - Chase Minnifield CB - Virginia

AT the 97, Indy is going to love getting Juron Criner out of this draft.

96 I could see Bearnard Pierce as nice option for SL

I have a few objections: New Orleans pretty much loaded with Linebackers after signing two in free agency. Casey Hayward was picked already by sspunisher for Dallas. I was looking for Tommy Streeter to go somewhere in the late 3rd.

I'm fine with that. Have a good long weekend. PS: Sorry if I am getting on your nerves. I just find the projecting of later round pick much more interesting than the first.

It's okay. I don't mind. I didn't give a lot of thought to that last batch of picks.

Grade C

Decent players with all 3 picks, not great value and I think better options were available at each pick. This is of course just my opinion and no on knock the drafter.

Based on the board...I go:

Rd 1 Cox

Rd 2 McCellin or Zeitler

Rd 3 Minnifield or Broyles

Love it for the packers. Filled their biggest needs
If only the Pack could have that draft - that would just rock. Unfortunately, I think NFL teams will demonstrate they are smarter than the posters here and, outside of Perry, draft the other two way before the Pack can. Now, the Pack may trade up for some of those picks, but there is no way they (outside of Perry) fall that far.

Now that I've digested it, I would have gone Cox, Curry, and I'd probably stick with my 3rd round pick so I'll have to agree with that C letter grade.
