I'm interviewing for a supervisory position within my office. My first stab at this type of position. As part of that process, we are required to pass the SHL / CEB assessment test, based on "psychometrics". For this particular job, it is geared at measuring deductive reasoning, management potential, reliability, achievement, influence, and independence.
The only logic-based portion of the test is deductive reasoning with questions similar to the LSAT: Tommy, Jenny, Joey, Bill, and Gabe all work on a line, Tommy must be next to Bill, Gabe must be between Joey and Jenny . . . followed by a "What must be true" multiple choice question.
I took a sample portion of the deductive reasoning and only got 38% last night. :Bag:. I still suck at these types of questions.
The other portions of the test are geared at your personality and management potential, with questions like (paraphrase): Better to be good at one thing and delegate or to be proficient in multiple areas? How many times in the past 6 months have you been late to a meeting or appointment?
It is a timed test that lasts from 40-60 minutes. So being efficient is important.
Anyone have any experience / guidance for this type of thing?
