So I've had a softspot for Hanley since picking him up as a late round flier in his rookie season with Florida and watching him lead me to a championship. In '07, I took him in the third and he ended up leading me to another championship. Well, after that, the rest of the fantasy world caught on, and he became a consensus top 3 pick, and I haven't owned him since. Now I have a chance to get him again.
The offer is:
Hanley and Ankiel
for
Morneau, Ludwick, and Theriot
Theriot and Ankiel are more or less throwins, as both are pretty much replacement level players.
So the meat of the deal is Hanley for Morneau and Ludiwck
The league is head to head, daily lineup changes, AVE, OPS, R, HR, RBI, SB
My offense looks like this:
C: Y. Molina
1B: Teixeira
2B: A. Ramirez
3B: Longoria
SS: Theriot
OF: McLouth
OF: Kemp
OF: Ludwick
Util: Morneau
BN: I. Stewart
BN: D. Fowler
I would probably move Alexei to OF in the meantime and Stewart to 2B until I can find a suitable OF replacement. I don't really like the idea of having Ankiel as my Util, but I imagine if I work the waiver wire agressively I can find a suitable replacement for Morneau in time.
Is Hanley worth all that? I think from a sheer value perspective, he probably is. But looking at it from the effect it will have on my lineup, I have my doubts. I'm also a little worried about his sore back and his lack of success running early on.
Thoughts?
