Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (5 Viewers)

New to me. Saved.

Ugly apparition, God's gift to oxygen
TheĀ puffed up immortal son
HowĀ they love him 'cause he'll become
TheĀ ghostĀ atĀ numberĀ one

...

Sure life's no cherry but a cupcake forĀ theĀ meek (shoot up bop bop)
So he shoots up his poison untilĀ theĀ frosting tastes so sweet (like a valentine)

Ā

Man - I hate diabetes! 😔
I think I've watched this like 10 times in a row. Lead singer/standing drummer! How were these guys not bigger?

Sweet! I prefer live - and Jools has some great acts. Which reminds me ...

I know shuke selected a QOTSA song, but he forgot to include my "viewer selection" - no prob shuke.

Anyways, I originally picked something else, but this is my current "make-up" pick.

Desert Sessions (Josh Homme & PJ Harvey) - I Wanna Make It Wit Chu

The Warlocks - "Mind Bender (Confusion Prince)"

If only I could be less blind
If only I knew what to find
Everywhere and all ofĀ theĀ time
It's bending my mind

Confusion's Prince is at my door
TheĀ crown I wear isĀ theĀ one he wore
He's here to bring me down some more
And bend my mind

TheĀ friendly stranger call my name
He only wants me for his game
But it don't matter justĀ theĀ same
I'll bend his mind

I'll wave my flags intoĀ theĀ sun
I've fought my wars and nowĀ they're won
And I didn't need nobody's gun
I bentĀ their minds

Nick Cave pick 880.

For some of these others, would really appreciate some suggested songs.
PoguesĀ so many great ones, chose this one in memory of my Irish side granpa - he told me the stories of his emigration every Saturday when i visited him ... over nonstop Jameson pours and Lucky Strikes for both of us (mind you, he passed when i was 16) šŸ‡®šŸ‡Ŗ

-Ā  backup withĀ this classicĀ

Dropkick MurphysĀ ripping cover of a storied traditional

- backup withĀ thisĀ cautionary dittyĀ  :D

i'll chuck some others up in due time - got a feeling this thread's gonna hang around awhileĀ Ā  :banned:

Meh. It's overplayed, yadda yadda yadda. I am firmly in the Astral Weeks camp. That whole album is a beautiful tapestry so I hesitate to offer a single track, but here isĀ Madame George.Ā I cannot recommend it highly enough, if you've never listened to the whole album straight through.
this post jogged some memories from years ago when I spent some time with a friend of my older brother.Ā  he was big into this album and we spent a weekend listening to it and other stuff from around the same period.Ā  so I went to iTunes on Friday night and ended up downloading 4 Van Morrison albums, Astral Weeks/Blowin' Your Mind/Moondance/St Dominics Preview, and spend all weekend laying around the pool and playing Van MorrisonĀ

My oldest son is 14 yo going into his sophomore year and he plays sax in band.Ā  He's like 'who is this?' and 'can you load this onto my phone?'.Ā  so yesterday, I put 4 albums plus the Best of on his phone and he will in turn play it for his buddies and hopefully the cycle will keep repeating.Ā  what great stuff.Ā

This one in particular seems right in Shuke's wheelhouse.

I need to take a day off to properly absorb this thread in its entirety as we're around the same age and I think our taste in music is pretty similar. A coupleĀ from our youthĀ to consider if you expand it:

The Tubes Talk To Ya Later

David & David Welcome to the Boomtown
oh damn ...didn't notice no Tubes!!!Ā  I could fill ten spots easy with these guys - and a large range of styles

White Punks on DopeĀ (if only one I have to go here)

TV is King

Don't Want to Wait Anymore

Bump for people who refuse to read the thread. Ā
Sorry - I had must have missed it originally and then skimming through the first page (1,000 + artist not in alphabetical order makes it togh). Glad to see he was there though. Hopefully the rest of my list was new.

to be fair ...tracking 1,000+ songs isn't easy.Ā Ā

I copied, pasted them in excel, separated them text to columns, and then sorted them ...and have stillĀ had a couple hiccups on the "The" thing.Ā Ā

ETA:Ā  great timing with the Bonnie Raitt missĀ  :lmao:

Control + F on page 1 works wonders to search what has already been listed.
Right? Ā I’m not sure why people are copying this into other formats and making charts. Ā

Hint: if you want to search for ā€œThe ______ā€, just search for ā€œ______ā€. Ā

*this may not work for The The.Ā

Yeah, I just alphabetically sorted them - pretty nice that the ones below are the only ones with "The" in front of the band name:

The Chemical Brothers - The Golden Path

The Honeydrippers - Sea Of Love

The Indigo Girls - Closer to Fine

The The - This Is The DayĀ

The Youngbloods - Get Together

I like alpha ratings. Less quibbling about specific slots and more immediate outrage over an artist getting passed over.
