wow - blast from the past - I had forgotten that song!
always loved this part of the song...

"Are you going to play football this year, John?"
"No!"
"Oh, well you must be going to play cricket this year then,
Are you Johnny?"
"No! no! no!"
"Boy, you sure are a funny kid, Johnny, but I like you! So tell me,
What kind of a boy are you, John?"

Has anyone heard of these guys?  This is goodSo is this. @Bonzai? @Guster?
Yeah, played a few shows with them back in the day.  Bill was in a bunch of bands, most famously the ### Ponys. Talented guy.  Cool that they're still putting stuff out.

I also saw that you listed 500 Miles To Memphis.  Played a ton of shows and partied a bunch with those guys. Surprised to see them in here. Fun band.

487. Styx - Come Sail Away

I was in New Orleans once for business.  It was for a convention so I saw some old buddies from a previous employer.  We were at a bar with a typical Bourbon Street cover band playing.  They didn't have a keyboard player but played this song anyway.  There was a keyboard on stage, though, and the lead singer played the part from 3:30 - 4:00, but only played two alternating keys with his forefingers the entire time.  It was horrible.  I laughed so hard I think I pissed my pants.
I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me a very long time into my life until I realized there was an alien abduction element to this song - I kind of wish I continued to be oblivious to that.

Also for any Freaks and Geeks fans out there the use of this song was a classic moment.

Was that the one with Jason Segel and Linda Cardellini in the basement of her parents' house? If so, that was super painful.

No that was Lady (yeah that was painfully hysterical).

This was when Cindy Sanders who Sam was smitten with promised Sam a dance at the next school dance. All of his friends told him he needed to pick a slow song to ask her to dance to. Come Sail Away starts playing and he gets hung up in his school mascot costume trying to get to the dance while this song was playing by the time he gets there and asks her to dance and they get out to the floor, the song kicks into the fast part and he's all bummed out.

ETA: or just look above :lmao:

Any true Styx fan will tell you that Suite Madame Blue is the correct choice here.  :)

485. Harry Chapin - Cats In The Cradle

There aren't many songs that pull the heart strings as much as this one.  As a father of two, I really need to listen to this every day.  Not only are my kids getting older, but my parents are too, and I feel like I don't see them enough.
+1000, but I love me some Taxi too.  And Mr. Tanner.  And A Better Place to Be.  And There Only Was One Choice. And I Wanna Learn a Love Song.    And I guess I just really love Harry Chapin.  Long live the story tellers!!
