New - nice voice - I like the bounce in it.

Piano is cool.

Beth Orton is awesome.  Used to have her in heavy rotation on my work mix in the mid Aughts.  Kind of lived and died with Brit rock/pop/hip hop/electronica in those days.

I remember when this song was big there was an article in Spin magazine about Throwing Muses.  Somehow they were talking about Edie and this song.  One of them quoted the lyric “before I get too deep” and then said “I don’t think we have to worry about that”.

Interesting story about the creation of the album. 

Having lived all around Ohio - I have never heard of this Meat Loaf line dance thing.  

Whoa. I was a huge Bruce fan and liked Bat Out of Hell.  Never saw it as a parody.

ETA - At the time I think I thought it was closer to Rocky Horror than anything else.

Reminds me of a wedding my wife and I went to in Cleveland a number of years ago.  When this song came on at the reception, all the men and women between the ages of 20 and 50 rushed out to the dance floor, got in two facing lines with the men on one side and the women on the other and started singing the parts of this song.  My wife and I looked at each other like, "what in the #### is going on here".  I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.  

Is this a Cleveland thing?  I've never seen anything similar at any other wedding I've ever been to.

Great NPR interview with Edie Brickell lately in which she talks about walking away from music to raise a family. She’s back with the band now, touring or releasing an album, I forget. The part where she talks about hitting it big so early and so quickly is worth a listen.
