Sidney Rice (1 Viewer)

:goodposting:Can we see a bump in Rice's #'s with Wade possibly out?
Probably....but...Boy it would have to be a deep league to start Rice with Tarv Jackson at QB right now.
Yep, im in a 16 team league.... What I'm thinking here, and Viking homers can chime in, if Rice has a good game as the #1 or #2 option, he can entrench himself ahead of Wade on the depth chart.... call me crazy... but thats what I'm seeing.

Absolutely. Instead of 2 catch for 25 yard potential he now has 3 catch for 37 yard upside. :lmao:
I am starting him in a 14 team, start 3 WR and 1 flex position league. Although I wouldn't be if I didn't have A.Johnson hurt and Holt on bye :lmao:That said, we get to keep a rookie for free...and I didn't have the luxury of picking any of the top rookies up so he may end up being the guy I keep.I haven't seen him much though, what % of plays has he been on the field for?Can he block at all? He looks like I could push him around.

Having himself a nice little game today... its just the ups and downs of rookie seasons. I think he could prove valuable in a dynasty.

Gotta love the upside and the big play skills. He should become a solid weekly option once they find a QB to throw the ball to him.

Much like most good rookie WRs he has been inconsistent but shows flashes of being a good WR. Nice game so far today. Anyone start him in a desperation play?

With two gadget plays with him last week it was a better than average bet that they were looking for ways to get him involved more. He was a decent play this week and probably from here on out.

:lmao:bump because they finally called rice's number on the fade!
Have to admit you were right on about him. I thought he would take a lot longer to get on the field and produce.
Same here. What type of potential do you guys think he has in this league? Where do you see him going in redrafts and dynasty drafts next year?
I can definitely see him getting the Vincent Jackson type hype from this year. Obviously higher in dynasty drafts, but probably a WR3-4 in redrafts.

Hm, it seems that based on their situations, they're similar. But are they otherwise? Rice was a better talent coming out of college, and has in his first year almost matched what VJax did in his second. Rice has also shown ridiculous skillz in some of his catches.

Both big bodies that are expected to be top red zone threats. I've been impressed by Rice since SC and I think his ceiling is much higher than VJax. At drafts next year, however, I'm just expecting Rice to be viewed the same way VJax was this year.

Rice is definatelty starting to show what his true abilites are. We are just scratching the surface IMHO. I think his value next year depends on the continued growth of T. Jackson or if they bring in another qb. If Jackson doesn't get a whole lot better or if they don't bring in another qb then his value may be limited due to the qb situation.

I don't know about that. I think unless he continues to put up good weeks from here on out that most will like his talent but hate the offense. If Jackson is still the starting QB I can see a lot of people avoiding him on that fact alone. VJax on the other hand was viewed so highly this year because he was supposed to be the #1 on the best offense in football which is a far cry of where the Minn offense is. The next 4 weeks will be critical to determining his value next year.ETA..personally I hope he settles down a little because he's shown glimpses for those that are watching but will be very cheap (probably a 4th wr).

Jackson has completed 45 out of 58 passes attempted over the last 3 games (over 75% accuracy). Id say he's coming along just fine. His timing throws are getting better, he's got more than enough arm to stretch the field, and he FINALLY hit Rice on a fade (I see Rice as one of the ultimate weapons in the red zone with his leaping ability, body control, and natural hands) - The run first game plan limits Rice's stats more than Tarvaris at this point.

As far as Rice vs. VJax - well, everyone knew where I stood on VJax coming into this year - you can't be a number 1 if you're not consistent when it comes time to finish the play. Vjax is a rarer physical talent than Rice, but he's clumsy when it comes time to seal the deal, while Rice has unreal "my ball" instincts - and that's why Vjax will be a nice blocking second WR who will be an occasional deep threat and no higher than the 4th option on his team in the passing game, while Rice will be the first deep passing option, the first red zone passing option, and the centerpiece of the passing offense (even if it is one of the more meager passing Os in the league) for a long, long time.

(remember, he's only 21 years old)
