Since 2010 - Only 4 NFL Teams haven't played on Wildcard weekend (1 Viewer)

Rumor spreading that since 2010, only 4 teams have not played in the Wild Card playoff round:

Browns, Buccaneers, Bears

Can you name the 4th?

three off the top of my head before going to look it up, Pats, Phins, or Bills.

why do u say rumor, isn't this something easily verified?

somebody posted it on Redit and I don't care to look it up. Let's assume it's fact ...

until someone proves it wrong.

Question is legit it turns out, but there was only two teams total in the Browns and the team not named in the OP. The other two, as Larry already pointed out, played in a wild card game in the last 10 years. I won't give away the last one yet since I looked it up.

bonus question: in looking at this there was only one year in the time frame where all road teams one. what year was it and can you name the winners? i would think no one remembers things like this, but if anyone can, this board will.

Patriots?

Was a very weird/obvious way you worded the question by saying "wild card weekend" and not just "missed the playoffs"

EDT:  Not them.  But must be another team that got a bye in the only times they made it?

Sounds like a division winner.

I do remember this happening, but I can’t remember when.  Gotta figure it was Texans and bengals losing at home as division winners and I feel like Seattle May have been a winner over the cowboys and packers over someone...

Some more random trivia on the 4s:

Last week, Carson Wentz surpassed 4,000 passing yards on the season, making him the first Eagle in history to throw for more than 4,000 yards.

Which 4 franchises still have never had a 4,000 yard passer?

Pretty sure he's also the only one without a 1000 yard receiver.

The bears have to be one of them. I think Kramer and Cutler came close, but not quite.

Didnt look at the other responses but I am certain the Patriots

ETA-  now that I read earlier posts I am less than 100% but I could have sworn I heard it on the radio Monday... Quite possibly that this is Bradys first wild card weekend game?

Easy to scratch off the

Patriots

Dolphins

Steelers

Bengals

Raiders

Chiefs

Broncos

Chargers

Colts

Texans

Saints

Falcons

Panthers

Bucs

Packers

Vikings

Lions

Giants

Washington

Eagles

Cowboys

Seahawks

49ers

Cardinals

Rams

So that leaves the

Bills

Jets

Ravens

Browns

Jaguars

Titans

Bears

Of those i would guess the titans browns bills Jaguars but it's awfully close..

I feel like Flacco Grossman and maybe Pennington and Favre were the ones who got there.

Pretty sure they lost to the ravens in wild card weekend years ago after a bunch of first quarter turnovers.

thinking brunell did it with mccardell and smith, but all the others on fred's list looks good. titans browns bills look like a great guess, with  bears ravens jets right behind for my guesses and removing jags.

This is the craziest part:

Carson Wentz is the first QB to throw for 4,000 yards without a single WR hitting 500 yards.

This has to be one of the worst nfl playoff weekends ever. Lousy teams, incredibly boring matchups.
100% disagree. I dont watch much football during the regular season, but I am stoked to watch these games. Seattle/Philly I will not be watching but the others are going to be great football.

But yes, if you like 56-17 scoreboards then this weekend is probably not for you

I seem to recall that Testaverde did it either his last year in Cleveland or first year in Baltimore (or both?) Bledsoe must have topped 4K with Buffalo.

Are we not counting the Houston Oilers? Because I'm sure Warren Moon got there.

Testaverde did with the Ravens (1996), Bledsoe did with Buffalo in the same year (1996), and Moon got there back to back years with the Oilers (1990 & 1991).

It seems 4000 yards without having 1000 yard receivers is more common than I thought. Well, common is probably a stretch, but certainly not that big of an anomaly in the modern day NFL. Since 2003 19 different QB's have done it including Wentz this year. Prior to that only 6 QB's had done it going back to the origin of the Superbowl. Underlying stats from PFR. Check out Brees' numbers without 1000 yard receivers.
