SJAX to be traded? (1 Viewer)

Sounds to me like SJAX knows this is his last chance to get something, anything other than what is on paper and knows he'll probably get cut loose after this season no matter what due to his cap #. He's doing everything he can to get one more contract before it's over. He feels he has two more good years, maybe 3 and wants to try to get a payday beyond those few years left.

Minnesota was wildly thought to be locked in on Kalil and only recently we've heard different. Minnesota has never been a threat to take Richardson so I highly doubt St. Louis would now be motivated to move up for Richardson. They must feel that Minnesota is going to take one of the guys that they felt could drop to #6, possibly Blackmon or Claiborne.move down provided that the Browns have more than one option available to them at #6.
They wouldn't trade with Minnesota due to the Vikes being a threat to take Richardson; they would do it because the team immediately after the Vikes is a threat to take him. If they do want Richardson, good luck trading with Cleveland to get #4 (assuming Cleveland actually wants Richardson).

Would it be too far fetched to see the Rams dump the SJax salary and get some draft picks, getting 7MM off the books, draft Trent who would be young and cheap for the next few years, and go sign someone like Mike Wallace and add a net couple mil to the payroll addressing RB and WR, while adding a few mil in salary with young high potential players? Not sure how close to the cap that they are to make something like this happen.

I can see them cutting SJax, but there are a lot of good RB's in the draft. They could get Blackmon and pick a RB in the 3rd or 4th to replace SJax. Personally I think they can find a starting RB in the 4th and do just fine.

Cutting SJAX isn't as crazy as it sounds. He's got an overall cap number of about $9M with a $7M salary due, and the Rams only have about $4M in cap space left. Sure, restructures can always open up capspace, but I wouldn't put it past Jeff Fisher to start over with his own soldiers and money to spend on them.

Maybe, who is going to give them anything for him? In case you haven't noticed, running backs don't fetch squat in trades.

Couple things wrong with this.1) RBs don't tend to get much return in trades, in the NFL.

2) How are they going to get Mike Wallace? He's not available.

3) IF they were able to get Mike Wallace, he's already said he wants to get paid, so they'd end up (likely) committing more $$ to Wallace/Richardson than to SJax/Blackmon

Sorry, thought Mike Wallace could still be signed, as well as a playoff-run ready team in need of a RB could put up some draft picks for him. But all valid points you guys made, which I'll take over my thoughts/reaches.

What about something like this:

Rams give up: picks 6, 39 and SJax

Browns give up: pick 4 and a 4th rounder

Browns need playmakers. Trent Richardson is the playmaker. The guy will help sell tickets to a dismal, boring, pathetic offense.

I think Blackmon's more of a Crabtree (NFL WR2) type.

Build that offense up for the QB that'll replace McCoy soon.

Crabtree is a poor comparison because he's never been 100% healthy and has had attitude problems from the beginning. He's much closer to Nicks and Roddy White.Personally I don't think there's that much difference between a 6-3, 220 Fitzgerald and a 6-1, 207 Blackmon with the way Blackmon plays on the field. Fitzgerald is also who Blackmon models his game after.

And if the Rams were that hot about a player after the 2 QB'S, they wouldn't have dealt down to 6.
Do you see why getting three firsts and a second for the #2 pick, then trading a first and a second to get to #4 and get the guy they were "that hot about", would be good for them? Like really, really good for them? I don't think they want to move up, but if they do want someone really badly, and can lock him up for a second rounder, its not a bad plan.

There is a humongous difference between Fitz and Blackmon. If Blackmon was even close to Fitz' level, there would be no talk of him falling. Blackmon isn't an elite WR

Lot of hypotheticals here and could have dealt with Cleveland directly (during RG3 talks). Not happening.
