Sleeper defense down the stretch... (1 Viewer)

D/ST is usually an afterthought, but can give you that extra point or two you need (ask anyone who picked up Seattle to start against OAK). For those with playoffs in Weeks 14, 15, 16, a defense who has some nice matchups, and is likely available in your league, is the Jets.

14: Buffalo: Losman. 'Nuff said.

15: @Minnesota (Brad Johnson, possibly Bollinger if Johnson has been benched/injured)

16: @ Miami. Harrington. Don't let the Bears game fool you, he threw some AWFUL passes, notably the Chambers TD which was heaved form his back foot into blanket coverage.

3 pretty pedestrian offenses (MINN has great rushing, but is 1-dimensional) and shaky QB play could lead to lots of picks.

Agree? Disagree?....any others who might actually be available AND have nice playoff matchups?

I love the idea of this thread and I think there are often hidden defenses out there for the taking even in deep leagues . . . but I have my doubts on the NYJ defense for fantasy. I just don't see where the pass rush is going to come from. And without a pass rush, it's a lot harder to get the fantasy stuff.

Also, very often teams don't have to throw on the Jets anyway - they're too busy running all over them.

Incidentally, for a great midseason report on the Jets, Cimini's piece today was, as usual, tremendous:

"Derrick Blaylock, the opening-day starter, has been discarded like radioactive debris." :D

he also listed one reason i like them a bit as a sleeper D -- "Mister Softee schedule: Only two of the remaining eight opponents have winning records. Combined record of opponents: 29-35."
