Sleeper Possibilities for Tab Perry (1 Viewer)

Tab Perry

Ive searched and havent really seen much on this kid. He has good size, played college ball at UCLA, but not much production so far in his career. Chris Henry will miss the first half of the season, and while we havent seen much from Tab Perry in his first couple of years in the league, I cant help but wonder if he's gonna be the Bengals 3rd WR option after 85 and TJ. I would think that role could be pretty important and produce some nice #s, but is this the guy who'll step up? Palmer has to throw to someone besides Housh and Johnson. Chris Perry always seems to be hurt. Kenny Irons, a possible receiving threat out of the backfield is done for the year, and I dont think the Bengals really have much of a TE threat to speak of....certainly not one that Ive seen ranked in anyone's top 20. Carson Palmer is widely regarded as a top 5 FF QB, top 3 by most, but is he basically going to be passing exclusively to TWO players? I dont see it. I do not see any QB ranking top 3 at year's end with only two significant targets.

Now, I realize Tab Perry is no Chris Henry....probably in more ways than one. Imo, few receivers in the league really are. Henry is as good a red-zone and scoring WR as there is in the league. He's a headcase, but you cant deny the talent. But this team has now lost Kelly Washington to FA, Henry to suspension, a couple of solid 3rd down RBs to injury, does not have a TE worth mentioning, and still noone talks about Tab Perry? Or is it just that the expectation is that Henry will return after 8 weeks off and pick up where he left off? Im always going to be on the Carson Palmer bandwagon. After what that man did last year coming back from the torn ACL on such short time and playing to that level, he'll forever get my full respect. Truly one of the best 4 or 5 QBs in the NFL. And he's the kind of QB who can make a young kid like Perry look good. What are the chances?

Anyone have an opinion on the potential of Tab Perry this season as a 3rd receiving option in Cinci? Bengals homers, any inside info?

There's been a few threads this offseason on him.

I think the general consensus around here is people agree with you but just wanted to make sure it was him and not Chatman that was 3rd WR

He's got pretty good size.. lines up in the backfield sometimes... very versitile.. they were even talking about putting him at safety at one point in his career. I've heard some people say that he can't replace Henry as the deepthreat, but he's actually faster than Henry. I watch all the games, and I've been pretty impressed with him. If he stays healthy he should put up decent numbers for the first half of the year.

Plenty of people know more about his fantasy value, but as a Bengals homer I can tell you I am not looking forward to Perry getting any action at all. The guy drops too many balls and simply doesn't go get it in the air the way Henry or any other good downfield threat does. He does have speed though, I'll give him that.
