If he qualifies, he is definately my choice. While not considered as talented as Schaub before the Texans traded for him, their situations are alot alike. I didnt think much of Whitehurst until i heard the Cardinals and Seahawks were targeting him, but these teams must know something. If the price the Seahawks is any kind of indicator, Whitehurst should get a chance sooner than later. I also like the direction the Seahawks are going. A franchise tackle in the first round of the draft. A good field stretching WR to go along with Housh in the 2nd round should give the offense a boost. I would like it better for the Hawks if they got Lynch, but even without, the offense should improve from last year.Whitehurst might the the safest QB with the most upside of all the QB's in his price range, and likely the QB's in the tier above him. I currently have him ranked as my #23 dynasty QB.Top Rookie Sleepers:
John Skelton Ari (Rookie - Small-school prospect with a good skill set, although not NFL ready)
Mike Kafka Phi (Rookie - Intriguing as a developmental prospect)
Dan LeFevour Chi (Rookie who is extremely raw)
A couple non-rookies to keep an eye on as well:
Charlie Whitehurst Sea (acquired in trade with SD; could push Hasselbeck early for the starting gig in Seattle)
Nate Davis SF (Alex Smith surprised me last season, but his hold on the SF starting job may be somewhat tenuous yet)
Brian Brohm's a dirt-cheap option with a nice potential payoff. He could wind up being a starter as early as this year, and all he'd cost in most leagues as a free agency transaction.Surprised no one's mentioned Nate Davis yet, too. He's definitely a FBGs favorite.
I have to see that Brohm has regained his confidence, and further to that, its been Edwards and Fitzpatrick who have been getting first team reps so far. Granted, he is a former second rounder, but the fact that he hasnt really separated himself from Fitzpatrick is a bit of a red flag for me.Futher to SSOG's recommendation of Nate Davis, I have been watching him too, but talking to a buddy who lives in SF, it appears that Davis' dyslexia is holding up his progress more than people had thought it would. He apparently needs to run through *everything* physically before he understands it fully. I'm really pulling for the kid on a personal level, b/c everything I have heard about him is positive, it just may take him longer than some of us have hoped for.Brian Brohm's a dirt-cheap option with a nice potential payoff. Singletary noted he was disappointed in his progress earlier this spring. I think (and so does Raye, the OC) that the criticism was a little unfair, given that Davis got virtually no snaps at all at QB last year because of the ongoing QB competition between Smith and Hill. He's basically still a rookie. This offseason, however, Davis and Carr have more equitably split the backup reps, so I expect to see some growth from Davis. That said, I've been reading the Niners minicamp reports, and Davis hasn't exactly been setting the practice field on fire when he's been out there, or earning rave reviews from the beat writers. This preseason should tell us something about whether he deserves the sleeper-love that he's been receiving.Futher to SSOG's recommendation of Nate Davis, I have been watching him too, but talking to a buddy who lives in SF, it appears that Davis' dyslexia is holding up his progress more than people had thought it would.
