Slim Pickings at Catcher (1 Viewer)

Ramon Hernandez has been serviceable, but now out 6-8 weeks.

Here is what is available (AVG, HR, R, RBI, SB are the categories) -

Montero

Doumit

Soto (on DL)

Ianetta

Branigan

That is all, which is surprisingly allright for a 20 team mixed league.

I like Montero - but when Snyder comes back he is limited.

I think Soto will bust out if he ever comes back.

I love Ianetta potential, but he hasn't sniffed it this year.

Doumit was a nice darkhorse entering the year before breaking his wrist in April.

Branigan...could lose his job to Hernandez when he returns.

So rank order these pups, I need to make a pick soon.

Montero

I wish I had your options, I ended up having to decide between Shoppach, Snyder, and Branigan. I went with Shoppach hoping for the 1-100 chance Victor gets traded.

I haven't been paying enough attention to each of their situations but I would guess either Ianetta or Soto. Doumit's not the type of injury I want to bother with, Soto could recover from his. Couldn't tell you what's wrong with Ianetta, liked what he was doing last year :hophead: Since I don't know what's wrong with Ianetta I'd probably go with Soto.

I don't play/know fantasy baseball, but watching the Dodgers/Reds right now, and holy crap does Hanigan have a great arm. He's thrown out 3 guys tonight, easily. And just gunned another runner at third on a sacrifice bunt.

Dang, must have some league members here. Went in to make the Doumit move - but he was already snagged. Went with Ianetta...so at the very least I got his HR and RBIS from last night.

I like Montero, but it's hitting 100+ degree territory in Arizona so there's a huge chance he wears down quickly in the second half.

Wasn't the guy that took over for Hernandez actually doing better than him (albeit limited trial size)?

Ianetta's a good pickup. I find it hard to believe a kid his age just forgot how to hit all of the sudden.

If it were a keeper league I'd be all over Montero, but with Snyder returning he is sure to lose at bats. The grind in Arizona makes the decision easier. Hanigan is over .300, but in 160 or so at bats and that Reds offense is pathetic. Then, if Hernandez comes back I have a backup catcher in Branigan. Here's hoping Ianetta rediscovers his potential.
