Small Business Owners: Health Insurance (1 Viewer)

Fellow small business owners, how are you providing health insurance to your employees? I am currently with BCBS and the hike this year is outrageous. Looking at options... TIA

We get ours through our local chamber of commerce. After the ACA was passed, they worked with other chamber of commerces throughout Ohio, called the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (even though it includes more than southern Ohio) to create a self-funded Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA). Premiums have gone up, but they've gone up across the industry, and I just checked earlier this month to find that they're still a good 20% cheaper than Obamacare. It also covers 70% of out of network care, whereas Obamacare does not at all. And the pediatrician my wife takes our kids to won't take Obamacare at all. The SOCA uses Anthem, which a lot of places in Ohio are part of their network (like our pediatrician), and even if they're not, we're still covered 70% if we choose to use them.

having the same issues. my agent suggested we move everyone onto an HSA but half the employees are scared !#$less of it.  I am thinking about cutting it out all together right now and just bumping their pay to the equivalent of their current plan cost.

I've considered this as well...
