Smart Phone Users Check In Here (1 Viewer)

Love it! Now one of the top bookmarks on my iPhone and will probably end up with a homepage tile until 1.1 is released.

Kudos to you for asking for feedback, listening, delivering, and improving!

We are feeling generous... This will be part of FBG Mobile 1.1 for both the iPhone and also the web version.

but until then, just point your smart phone to this link:

Cool!

... you do know that Android-based phones have been out-selling the iPhone for some time now, don't you?...

An Android app would be very welcome, I'm sure. I know I would... :lmao:

We are doing this stuff in-house. We chose one language to learn and that was Object C for the iPhone. Learning that language allows us to develop for both the iPhone and iTouch now and the iPad next year (I could be wrong, but I believe there are more iPhones + iTouches + iPads than Android phones). We are creating everything with web back ends. This allows us to have a web front end as part of our solution to people with other smart phones. Not sure why people are stuck on the word app. Our mobile web solution (http://footballguys.com/m) has the exact same functionality as our iPhone app. Once we make the front page a little prettier, there really won't be much of a difference at all.

Ok I'm out of touch, is this a different site than the news feed on FBG?

ETA: David - I have never done a phone app but it appears Adroid is Java.

If you can do Object C you can do Java. I just went from doing java development to C and I still have a learning curve but a lot of the language is similar, java was actually grown from C

The real question is why do it though? If we create a web backend that any smart phone can see and it works great, why create apps for Blackberry, Droid, etc. The only advantage for us is to get these things in the apps stores for wider dissemination. Functionally, our solution is the same and way easier to deploy. We made a push to learn the object C because we are committed to doing some cool things for the iPad going forward. We also think the Apple iStore is way ahead of what Blackberry and Google have done to date. So yes we could do an "app", but when that app is really nothing more than an icon that launches all of the web stuff, what really is the point of spending more resources on that?

Completely understand where you are coming from and I completley agree. You already have your audience here and many people think app and think it's different. I guess my reasoning is the same as apple, why not create and app for rim and android. You get your "app" into their respective marketplaces hoping for new customers. I agree with you completely, it's definitely a numbers game on how you think Googles new marketplace will be received. They are wayyy behind on that. Even if you create an "app" that is just a link to the mobile site like cbs and espn do. I think you could get more random hits.
