While worded in a humorous way, this was a serious question.
Does anyone know whether Corey's getting himself into shape? He's my 3rd DT in a IDP league in which we have to start at least one DT, so he's "on the bubble" for me (will he burst it?).
He's obviously got talent, but if you look at his career arc, it isn't particularly promising: His solo totals from his rookie year in 2000 to last year go like this: 46, 41, 36, 35, 27, 26. He'll never repeat his rookie sack numbers (9.5) either, leastwise not until QBs come in BBQ flavor. Last year he didn't record a single sack. This is a guy who badly needs to drop 30 lbs and get his quickness and stamina back. If he can do that, he could be worth a roster spot on your team; If he plays at the same weight as last year, he's a waste of rations. A LOT of rations. Dungy sounds fairly confident that Simon will, er, bring a lot to the table this year.
Thanks for the link, onionsack. This (under)statement from that article cracked me up:
When Simon signed with the Colts last September, Dungy at the time said he was above the 293 pounds at which he had been listed in Philadelphia. And Dungy recently said Simon played heavier than preferred last season, and that prevented him from playing at maximum effectiveness.
