So...How are Moss & Culpepper doing now? (1 Viewer)

Muahahaha

As a diehard Vikings fan and UW alumni, I always admired how my college team played and dreaded watching my pro team on Sundays. Barry Alvarez turned the Wisconsin program around by focusing on three things: (1) strong defense; (2) running the football; and (3) minimizing turnovers. All he had to show for it were two Rose Bowl wins from a team that had traditionally been a Big Ten doormat.

By contrast, my pro team seemed to think that the way to a championship was winning shootouts. While we had a top notch offense, no lead was safe. The 4th quarter was hide behind the couch time. Fun for fantasy, but horrid as a real fan.

Now, Brad Childress has effectively taken everything he learned at Wisconsin and installed it at Minnesota. Through two games, we have played extremely well on defense, never abandoned the run, and have had one turnover. Through luck and perseverance, we have squeaked out wins against arguably better teams.

I have cheered the transformation of this team from one based on a shootout offense and porous defense to one based on a ball control offense and a stifling defense. We are not even close to getting to where we need to be, but I love the trend.

So I will finish with the following: good riddance to Randy Moss and Daunte Culpepper. God Bless the Vikings management for having the guts to make the tough decisions necessary to build a championship-capable team. Between the two of them, Culpepper and Moss would have used up 25% of our cap. And the Vikings would have started this season 0-2; I am sure of it. These two are making it blatantly clear that they alone cannot lead a team to Championship.

I will be waiting patiently for all the people in the media who panned the jettison of Moss and Culpepper to start eating crow. They were wrong.

Amen Bro!

Last I checked Moss and da Raiders were 0-2 and one of the worst teams in the league (though this isn't Moss' fault) and the Dophins are 0-2....and Culpepper still has that lack of confidence about him. I still think the Vikings will be .500 team this year at best.

No no no, Daunte was/is a Pro Bowl QB, :D

People always say that we didn't get enough value for when we traded Daunte, but if we got no compensation whatsoever, we still would be better off, and it's starting to show,

Touche

Thats Steeler type football - and guess what - it works.

Dunno why people are complaining about C Taylor. He runs hard and leaves nothing on the table.

B Johson is pretty good at throwing with either hand - and while being yanked to the ground. T Williamson is improving nicely and MRob is staying healthy.

They are a solid team that won't beat themselves.

I would love it if the Vikings transformed themselves into the Steelers. Maybe we would finally win a Super Bowl....

SHHHHHHH. Shush please. Dont jinx it and dont bring attention to it  It has been fun so far. We'll see what happens when Chicago comes in next weekend.

Saddened Packer fan with only 2 requests - bring back Mice Tice and Dave Wanstadt :(

As painful as it is for me watching the Packers rebuild, it is nice to see Minn and Chicago representing what is supposed to be "the worst division in football" rather well so far.
