So hungover this morning I accidently wore two different shoes (1 Viewer)

Over the last few days I've really acknowledged that I have a drinking problem. I'm seriously thinking about attending AA meetings 1-2 times a week. Or whenever I feel like I need them.

My new job allows me more time to destroy myself , but I enjoy my work so I need something else to do besides kill myself slowly.

I want some friends that don't party.

Volunteer, my friend. You felt it. Go for it.

I did in a way. I gave away two guitars to people that were excited about them. I intended to sell both for $300-$400 dollars combined but it feels so much better to give it to somebody that will appreciate it.

As for volunteering a full day? My schedule isn't set yet but I would love to cook and serve at a homeless shelter and just talk to the people. I often feel like crap because I haven't yet. Many days I could have been more active but I was nursing a hangover.

Im a huge jerk

Is that important? I'm sure it's easy to learn.
learning to skate or improve your skating is easy. all it takes is some time, effort and focus to improve.

umm, on second thought this may be a difficult task for Rok.

Drink tonight?

Agreed.

What's it going to cost to play competitive street hockey and eventually on ice?
Well, let's see...

Time.  Commitment.  Effort.  Practice.  Long-term dedication.

Till you can make that downpayment, I wouldn't throw any cash into the venture.

I don't want any instruction. I will learn from playing against others. its more of a way to make friends and winning a championship is a close second.

I think weed might be the problem lately. I feel giving up all combustible smokables so I can get ready to smash things out in front of the net.

Make some likeminded friends. Have a few beers, play hard and win a championship

I loved little league. I played 2 years of peewee on the same neighborhood team and we lost 1 game the first year and the second year went undefeated. Nobody said a word about the undefeated season and we all got the same participation trophy. That was a real bummer.

My only memory from little league is accidently hitting the coaches son in the face with a ball during a toss around drill.

the coach saying " hit a grounder and get on base" which I did every time

and putting me in right field for some reason

I play in a men's hockey league for Hockey North America. The fall/winter league is $600 for 20 games plus playoffs. This is in NYC, so their leagues in your area may be a bit cheaper. A full set of new gear will run you probably between $800-$1000 depending on what you buy and where you buy it. I would recommend going to a store and finding what you like, and then go online and look for sales/clearance at total hockey or similar sites.

I threw the ball normally. The coaches son wasn't ready and didn't put his hand up. It hit him right in the eye. The coach ran over and after a couple minutes looked at me. I didn't intend to hit the guy in the face. He never said anything about it.

At home my mother said a couple times " That's the coaches son. You are going to get kicked out"

It still haunts me today. I think about it.

What is TotalHockey?

but in HS I was on Varsity and rotated between CF, SS , 1B and anywhere they needed me.
I played left & center field....could make the throw to home plate on a dime...with the appropriate amount of "bounces".

They "needed" me at 2nd base a few times...or so they thought...

...I couldn't hit 1st base from 2nd if my life depended on it...to danged close...people in the dugout needed to wear helmets when I was at 2nd. :bag:

This didn't happen.

Oh god, just saw the thread title and my heart dropped into my gut. Please dude, hockey is never the answer. Positive vibes sent your way. :(

If I may, some optional 'true' storylines to pep things up:

- Cousin joined ISIS for the health insurance.

- She might be pregnant

- Lump on your mannary

- Date looked like she has a big deck.

- IRA finally tracked me down. Bloody heck!

- Gal at work rarely showers and talks to the lunch specials. We might elope.

you live in dallas and want to play hockey? I love hockey and play/coach a lot but that seems like an idea that won't work out for ya.

How about softball? seems more realistic...

Right field was usually reserved for the weakest link...

I played little league long before the time of participation trophies.  I still remember our right fielder.  He was 0 for 19 with 19 strike outs.  The only time he reached base was when he got drilled in the back.  They made me run for him because he couldn't breathe.

He also had this odd habit of pounding his throwing hand into his glove just prior to attempting a catch.  Invariably, the ball would deflect off his glove or he would just miss it entirely.  Toward the end of the season, I thought I would try giving him some "advice".  "Why don't you NOT pound your hand into the glove and just focus on the ball?"  Soon after, there was a fly ball to right and he settled under the ball looking as comfortable as Roberto Clemente.  I thought "he isn't going to pound the glove!  He is going to make the catch!".   However, my Disney moment was ruined when, at the very last moment, he lowers his head and pounds the glove.  The ball smacks him square in the noggin, literally hitting the "beanie" on top of the cap.  I don't know if he lost consciousness but he might have...

Years later, I came across his obituary and (although deeply saddened by his early passing) was pleased to find that he enjoyed coaching at the little league level.  I was amused by the thought of this entire team pounding their glove before the catch...  As a kid, he wasn't very good but he did love the game.  RIP, my friend.

So you played 2 years of "participation trophy" little league baseball and then went on to make the HS varsity team (after presumably not playing for several years). And you played center field and short stop?

Yeah, that seems about right. High school varsity teams always shuffle kids between center field, short stop and first base.....

  we could turn this thread into a game. rok posts a bunch of stuff and than we have to fugure out what is truth and what is fiction.

He is built like a strong safety and has an IQ of 170.  He can play any position in any sport.  He probably played where they were short in LL.  The short stop may have been out with a cold one week so he took that spot.  The next week, the first baseman was on vacation so he took that spot.  And so on.

he played right field in little league too. that is where all the star ball players get their start.
