So what does your bench look like? (1 Viewer)

Figured it would be interesting to hear how other people structure their bench. Do you maximize pitchers to enable the best matchups? Do you stock position players, particularly multiple-position guys, in an effort to minimize the number of holes in the lineup each day. Type of league obviously will inform this decision (basically whether or not you have limits on games or innings).

My league is head-to-head and there are no limits.

Right now I keep 3 pitchers on the bench at any given time (once Fuentes is off the DL I will carry 5 RPs and 6 SPs) and only 2 position players. An outfield and the recently acquired Uribe to plug holes that might crop up due to off-days/scratches. My flex players are strong enough (and my overall pitching is so sketchy) that I think this is the best way to go about it.

What do you guys do?

Weekly lineup head to head league: 0 bench bats, 7 bench arms. This league's scoring is a bit strange, not penalizing much for runs/hits against so loading up on 2 start pitchers (especially via waivers) is the way to go. Still, my team would be structured like this anyway, I had all of my bats (17) by round 20 with my last ones being Ianetta, Kelly Johnson, Desmond, and Headley.

Daily lineup somewhat deep roto salary cap keeper: more bench bats than bench arms, the IP limit is reason #1. 200 IP's from 5 guys is about the cap or else you'll spend all your IP's too early. I have Lince K, Hamels, Slowey, Weaver, Dusch, Chris Young, and Colby. I'm planning on one of my top four getting hurt so I'm hoping to get ~ 100 IP's from each of the others. I'd like to be selective with starts if I can. Since replacing arms year over year is easier I load up on bats for my bench, I built my team around a solid foundation but have surrounded them with a lot of risks. If 50% pan out and I avoid the injury bug I should win again.

Daily lineup very deep roto dyno (plus 10 player taxi squad): balance, trending more towards bats. You want more IP's on your roster than your IP limit will allow so you can be somewhat selective on starts, but if you become needy for more IP's arms can be found on waivers. They aren't good arms, but they could be useful. Same can't be said for bats. Right now the best available are Lyle Overbay, Joaquin Arias, Pedro Feliz, Jack Wilson, Gerald Laird, and Scott Hairston. If you need to dig into the waiver pool too much for your bats you're probably dead. I ensured at least one backup at every position.

Roto, daily, big rosters, 14 batters, 11 pitchers, 11 bench spots, IP limits (1900), and GP limits (2280)

Early in the season, I like to carry almost exclusively hitters and RPs on the bench. It seems like there are more off days early in the season, so I like to maximize my lineup early in the season. Also, I like to use the majority of my innings after the AS break. With call-ups and teams giving up, pitchers will have a better go if it later in the season.

As the season goes on, as I give up on some hitters, I'll add the pitchers I believe in along the way and stream the 8th SP spot when I see a good match-up.

I'm in a weekly H2H league and have 2 bats. The rest are all pitchers. I think stocking up on arms is crucial in most formats.
