I apologize if this is already a thread down the list I'm too lazy to look...mods feel free to combine, delete, or whatever....haha

Ok, who will be the next prez?  Cuz Joe isn't at full mental capacity......Harris?  Klobuchar?  That gal from Michigan?

News outlets are reporting he's being pressured to pick a woman of color......I spose that's where we are at as a nation though, it's about color, and gender, not policies and/or qualifications.......I spose we can thank our forefathers for where we are at the moment.....

So what would any of Joe's potential running mates mean, if they became prez?  Who has the lowdown?

Well, Ice Cube just went from about +1000 to +10000000000000000 times a google times infinity today.

So we can rule him out.

I'm still holding out hope for Zack De La Rocha

It seems his only criteria doesn’t have anything to do with how qualified they are for the job only that they are female and AA. That’s where we are at now as a country and what will get voted no matter how poor the choice is.

He doesn’t care whatsoever how qualified they are? Come on. You can’t really believe this.

Do you disagree that his first criteria is race and sex before considering qualifications? He’s basically come out and said it numerous times.

Do you think there are black women who are qualified to be Vice President?

He is making diversity on the ticket a priority.  How the criteria is ordered, I don't know and, honestly, I don't care.  Regardless, though, that wasn't what you wrote.  You said qualifications were meaningless to him.  That's utterly ridiculous.

White people just happen to be the most qualified for virtually every republican position?

You may fee that way but I don’t. I’m an advocate of looking at all options and hiring the most qualified. If I hired like Biden does I would be facing a lot of lawsuits.

So you are saying race and sex? Noted.
I didn't say that.

What I will say is that you are likely defining "most qualified" too narrowly. Joe Biden may value someone who would bring a different perspective to the WH - someone who would represent the views of millions of diverse Americans. And being able to bring that diverse viewpoint may make that person more qualified than a 50 year old white dude. Joe gets that point.

But I reckon you see "most qualified" in a pretty narrow lane. Which, by the way, I think there are likely plenty of women of color who would qualify in your definition of "most qualified."

He was dumb to have painted himself into a corner by limiting the search to women and maybe now women of color.  At this point, he could have tabbed Booker and would have been fine with the base.

Sure.

Why doesn't Joe look at Asian women?  What about Hispanic women?

Can they not be qualified?  It isn't just white or black.  There are over 60 million Hispanic people in this country.  What about their different perspective and their voice?

Sure he can. And of course they can be qualified. Do we know he's not?

I believe the commitment was to be a woman, not a woman of color.  It was a bad decision, regardless, but let's make sure the conversation is about what he actually said.

    It was?
I don't think it's a bad decision to end up choosing a woman, I think it was a bad decision to commit to it before his team had done the work of choosing the best VP candidates.  It reeks of pandering.  I think it would have been far better to have not said anything, and if anything, broke ties in favor of a woman, or a woman of color, if it came down to it.

Most VP candidates are selected for "partly" another reason in recent memory.

Palin - Was she most qualified?

Biden - Was he selected to balance out the age/race/Washington/perceived ideological leanings on the Obama Ticket?

Cheney - Was he the best or was he an age/experience balancer?

Tim Kaine - ....I really don't know why Tim Kaine was chosen.....maybe Gender and a Swing State?

Pence - a Balance between religion/non-religion, Conservativism/Trumpism, morality/amorality?

Bush/Quayle - Age?

I'd say maybe Clinton/Gore and Reagan/Bush were probably two of the more notable instances of VPOTUS....being probably the "Next Best Man Up" in regards to the office.

I don’t think the first criteria he had to meet were race and gender. That type of open discrimination would have gotten destroyed by the public.
His first criteria was while, male, and christian.

People pick VP's for all sorts of reasons, and they rarely have "most qualified" at the top of the list

No it wasn’t, you are just claiming that to protect your parties open discrimination. Please don’t waste my time with that.

If the VP position holds up for even one second a Rage reunion and new album out I’m out on the idea.

OK - you tell me why he picked Mike Pence then
That’s hilarious, there’s nothing less popular than being a white male.  :lmao:

Maybe consider his temperament and ability to communicate. He made Kaine look like the complete joke he is.

Pence scored the religious right, pure and simple.  The pick was no different in intent (Pandering to a target audience to secure votes) then what Joe will likely be doing, or what McCain did, or Obama, or....

Oh yeah, that religious right that was about to go with Hills? :lmao:

I just think it’s impressive sleepy Joe came out the gates basically eliminating that many candidates based on race and sex.

I’m sure that’s what you have to repeat to yourself daily to keep the faux rage up.....good stuff.  :lmao:
Hey bud, weren't you just complaining the other day about people using the :lmao:  emote? Just sayin'

Wasn’t me, please don’t make false claims in here. Board cop will pounce on you.
It was you. Might have been the "Daily reminder thread" I can find the post if you'd like?

I'll leave that up to you. I never turn down a dare. You have about 2 mins to delete before I find it. But it was 100% you

The only thing funny about what I said is you believing that Trump is the first president in recent memory to pick somebody for other than political reasons. The fact that you believe Trump picked Pence for his cool calm voice and experience is Chris Rock level funny.

I hope u r kidding, but anymore, nothing is out of the question

Funny thing is, it's always the libs that bring up race and gender.......the conservatives I know actually don't give a #### about that.  We've moved on.  It's a new world where we've evolved as a people to accept people from different backgrounds......its not perfect, but it's all explotied and overplayed by the left. It's about world view......Candace Owens is a prime example......every conservative I know thinks she's great.

Race and gender are important parts of who we are as people. Why would we not want to talk about that?

A government of the people, by the people, and for the people, that doesn't accurately represent the composition of the people, is a problem worth identifying and addressing.

Sure, and is and has been addressed constantly.....my issue is the left saying we are no better off than we were in the 60's.....really!?  That's bull####!!!

Look, I won't deny that the Democrats absolutely wallow in identity politics, and it gets tiresome.  However, the Republicans continuing white, male, dominance makes it possible.  I have to believe that there are plenty of conservative women of all colors, and men of color, who are absolutely qualified to serve in our government.  Why the Republican party appears to make little effort to cater to them, to promote them, and to work on becoming a more diverse and representative party is beyond me.  As long as they choose not to, the Democrats will have some factual basis to point it out.
