Soft Playoff Schedules weeks 15-17? (1 Viewer)

The only correct answer is that no one has any idea what will be a good match-up four months from now. I definitely wouldn't factor it into my draft decisions. Maybe at some point in the season, when we have actual data on how good or bad defenses are, I might start thinking about it in the context of trade targets or streaming options. But at this point a monkey throwing darts at a dartboard would have more predictive power

Has anyone ever gone back to any of preseason strength of schedules analyses to see if they were anywhere close to being accurate?

I mean, would you rather your RB1 play at home vs. AZ week 15 or @SF?
Before I made that decision I would check to see what Davante Adams & Josh Jacobs did last season overall and specifically against San Francisco in week 17.

Would I have chosen Cordarrelle over Jacobs because Cordarrelle played Arizona in week 17 and Jacobs had SF?

Taylor Heinicke & Terry McLaurin put up better numbers at SF in week 16 than Tom Brady & Mike Evans (or Chris Godwin) did in Arizona in week 16 last year.

Of course the correct decision was to start Bucs over Commodores that week but the results illustrate how thin SoS is as a determining factor, particularly 20 weeks out.

SF D >>> ARI D there is no question about that. If that helps you decide between Justin Fields & Lamar Jackson, by all means use it.

I'm just wondering if it has any true statistical value.

I get the reason not to but I've been looking at schedules of the players for the fantasy playoffs for decades. I'll say it's not a major factor in how I personally rank players, but I definitely look ahead. Guys who appear to have a decent schedule at this stage:

Miles Sanders at home against Falcons, Packers then at Jaguars.

Derrick Henry at home against Texans, Seahawks then at Texans.

Khalil Herbert at Browns, then home against Cardinals and Falcons.

Derrick Henry at home against Texans, Seahawks then at Texans.
I mean...yeah...even I would be all over that.
But would I take him over Bijan (@Car, Ind, @Chi) because of it?

Pollard (@Buf, @Mia, Det)?
Saquon (@NO, @PHI, LAR)?
Ekeler (@LVR, But, @Den)?
Chubb (Chi, @Hou, NYJ)?
McCaffrey (@Ari, Bal, @Was)?

For me, weeks 15-17 probably don't move the needle on where I rank these guys.

Henry just doesn't feel right this year, but that playoff schedule is very much worth noting. Moving him up a couple spots
Tyjae time by then. I can see a Henry trade if they are out of the picture or King Henry finally wearing down from all the touches racked up through the recent seasons.

Nope. I'm not trying to be the pioneer of fantasy playoff schedules and it's direct relations to ranking. I think it's quite small. Let's say I use 7 things I've designated as important when I make my rankings. Let's also say fantasy playoff schedule is one of those 7. My opinion on the schedule doesn't hold more weight against the more important ones. Like my "eye test". If my eyes tell me Bijan is gonna be a Hall of Fame rb im not taking Miles Sanders ahead of him due to weeks 15-17. For me, playoff schedule is fun to look at and can be used as an period at the end of the why u like Bijan sentence.

Which teams/players have the best fantasy playoffs schedules?
Nobody knows or should pretend to know. We don't even know who is good or bad yet. This seems like a fool's errand.
Well, as a devils advocate I could say I feel pretty good that the Cardinals, Colts, Bucs, Raiders and Rams will all have top ten draft picks after the season resulting in them being bad teams. Those bad teams create a positive game script for opposing rbs. In theory. Ha ha

And I have had many, many times where plus matchups yield suboptimal results. I just don't see that trying to forecast and hope 3 months into the future at draft time for maybe a one week matchup is worth doing. You gotta get to the playoffs first let alone still have the RB healthy and have the teams meet their expected levels of crapiness.
